Funeral arrangements: Reposing at Fatima Home, Tralee this Sunday from 6.00p.m. followed by removal at 8.00p.m to Ballyferriter Church. Requiem Mass on Monday 15th at 11.00a.m. and burial afterwards in Church Grounds.

THE Clara News is a magazine Millstreet people made time for more than 30 years. However, just one more issue remains on the formal announcement that it will cease publication.
After 36 great years serving the greater Millstreet area, editor Denis Reardon made the announcement on the February edition that its end is imminent.
During its existence, The Clara News has tied its communities in a remarkable time warp of changing development and modern technology.
The Clara News stood the test, once circulated, a community magazine topped the list. Something everyone saw and no matter how many opinions there were, the weekend of issue wouldn’t be completed without a read of the Clara News.
Over the years, “The Clara News showcased from the workings of community groups and the noted achievements of so many people yet those behind the magazine say its time to say goodbye.
“Some of us have come to the conclusion, that we can no lomger devote the time and the energy to produce The Clara News and we believe our time has come and its time to put away the keyboard, the pen and the stress.
“We’re fine about it, its nice to go while we still can. It was fun while it lasted but for me, after 35 years, its time to go. I’ve enjoyed it,” said editor Denis Reardon.
And from a magazine that found it way to all corners of the globe, Denis commended all associated with the magazine that over the years focused on the life and tmes of Millstreet, Ballydaly, Cullen, Kilcorney and Dromtariffe.
“I want to thank all the people who made the Clara News possible, those who supported it and they are many, too many to mention,” he said.

Millstreet Macra won their first National title since reforming 4 years ago. Our Question Time team of David O’ sullivan, Kieran Murphy, Dan Creedon and Mick Walsh (L-R on photo without trophies) beat off stiff competition in Castlebar at the end of February to take an outright victory and National Macra title back to Millstreet.
On Friday night last (1st March). the Millstreet Macra set dancers comprised of Niamh O’ Mahony,Tracey Lehane, Maura Sheahan, Cathriona Cullinane, Laura Lynch, Ciara Hickey, Deirdre O’Mahony and Eileen O’ Sullivan won the regional round of the National Talent Contest in Ballyanly. Kieran Murphy also won Mastermind in the National Talent Contest. Both groups will be representing the region at the upcoming county final which will be taking place in Imokilly on Easter Saturday.
On Saturday last night our debating team consisting of Rebecca Enright, Anneka Dunne, Katie Guerin and James Kelleher (L-R in photo) beat an enthusiastic Kerry Macra team to progress to next round of the national senior debating competition. Rebecca also was awarded the ‘Best Debater’ accolade on the night of the four teams competing. They will compete again on the 23rd of March, opposition and venue TBC.
To top off the night, Rebecca also took part in the Muskerry Macra ‘Titles’ night and came away with the prize of Miss Blue Jeans Muskerry 2013 and [read more …] “Millstreet Macra News”

The most recent edition of the ever-popular “Clara News” has just been published. It is the first issue of its 36th year. Very sadly, it is the second last issue of what has become such a truly treasured publication for so many Millstreet people at home and abroad for a complete generation and more. We encourage you to buy your copy of “Clara News” – still only one euro – because this issue and the final issue are bound to become veritable collectors’ items. We especially thank Denis not only for having been such a captain supreme of this hugely important “Ship of Communication” for 35 years but also for his much appreciated emphasis on the role of our Millstreet website and how very closely both have been linked in attempting to keep Millstreet people at home and abroad in touch.
