Millstreet TKD gradings in Athlone
Millstreet Taekwondo Club members travelled to Athlone last weekend to take grading exams which would promote them to the next level. After almost six hours of training and examination, six fantastic young Duhallow people successfully passed. So Millstreet Taekwondo Club now has five new First Degree Black Belts in Sliabh O’Connor, Rachel Gaffney, Triona Desmond, Michael Thornton and Sean O’Keeffe. Promoted to 2nd degree was Joshua O’Sullivan. So many hours of training paid off. Well done to everyone.
World Taekwondo Champions
14 year old Joshua O’Sullivan, Ballydaly, competed last week in the 2017 World Taekwondo Championship. As well as bringing home 2 Gold Medals & 3 Bronze, Joshua won the Best Overall Competitor in his category. The Gold medals were for U15 –55Kg Individual Sparring & U15 Special Techniques. The Bronze medals were for U15 Individual Tul, U18 -65Kg Team Sparring & U18 Team Tul. Joshua trains in Millstreet under Master Don Dalton.
And congratulations also to Andrew O’Regan also brought home a gold in sparring at the Killarney event. His coach has high praise for him [1]:

Millstreet Competitors at the Cork IUTF Cork Championships
The first event of the new Taekwan Do season competition calender kicked off last Sunday in Grenagh with the IUTF Cork Open Championships. Great performances by Caraiosa Foley and Joshua O’Sullivan (far left) of the Millstreet Club secured them 2 medals each. [with thanks to Mary for the photos]

6th Kup Green Belts
Five students from the Millstreet Taekwondo Club, Darragh O’Brien, Joshua O’Sullivan, Thomas Cronin, Diarmuid Cronin and Seamus O’Donoghue, progressed to 6th Kup Green belt level last Friday. This is a great achievement for the young men and a testament to the hard work and dedication on their part and the commitment and teaching skills of their mentor Mr. Don Dalton. Darragh & Joshua went on to win a Gold and Bronze Medal each at the IUTF Chon Ji tournament in Kanturk on Sunday. Joshua’s Six Tae Kwon-Do Medals
Joshua O’Sullivan, Ballydaly pictured with his Instructor Master Don Dalton at the TaeKwan-do tournament held in Tralee on Sunday March 3rd.
Joshua scooped a very impressive 6 medals. He competed in his own category – 10 years – and also in the 11 years. The categories were Sparring, Tul and High Kick.
Master Dalton’s training sessions are held in the the GAA hall Millstreet on Friday evenings.
Gold Medal win for Ballydaly Boy
10 year old Joshua O’Sullivan, Ballydaly pictured with his gold medal for sparring at the recent Irish Open Taekwondo Championships held in Neptune Stadium, Cork.
This medal comes just 2 weeks after he brought home a Gold trophy for Sparring and a Bronze for Tul from the East Cork Championships, Midleton (24th Nov)

Jason Murphy – Tae Kwon-Do Champion
Pictured is Jason Murphy (13) from Rathduane, a student of Millstreet Tae Kwon-Do Club since 2006 under Master Don Dalton, competed at The Scottish Open Taek Won Do Championships recently where he won 3 Golds in Sparring, Patterns and Team Sparring and Bronze in Special Techniques, adding to his already large collection of trophies.
