Our Breton Friends Fondly Remember Anne Keane

We have just received a greatly appreciated message of sincere sympathy from our Breton Friends in Pommerit le Vicomte having become aware of the passing of Anne Keane to her Eternal Reward, R.I.P..  Anne was of course synonymous with our Twinning Association and superbly coordinated many splendid welcomes in Millstreet and in Brittany as a wonderfully dedicated Committee Member of the Millstreet Twinning Association.  Here is a translation of the message sent from Brittany by  Joseph and Yves which is so very thoughtful and supportive. (S.R.)

“Hello to all dear friends of MILLSTREET we have been greatly saddened to learn of the announcement of the death of  ANNE KEANE – supreme personality of your Twinning Committee.  Anne was always so very helpful and supportive during our exchanges. Courageous and dignified in the face of her illness. (Every day that passes is bonus, she told me during our last visits 2016- 2017-2018 so let’s take advantage of it). On behalf of the entire Twinning Committee of Pommerit le Vicomte on behalf of Mayor MICHEL LANCIEN  Mr. Floch Jean,  Mr. Gautier Alain (former mayor) and the whole municipality we present by your intermediary our very sincere condolences to the entire family of ANNE KEANE as well as to all the members of your committee. JOSEPH and YVES.”

Below we share some Twinning images from the past as we all recall our great Friend Anne.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Millstreet Visit put back to September

Recently, about twenty members of the Pommerit-Millstreet twinning committee attended the AGM of the association. After the approval of the moral and financial report in 2017, a report was made of the meetings of departmental and regional Brittany-Ireland twinning committees. The observation is obvious. “Many committees are in survival and the future is very uncertain.”

With its 26 members, the Pommerit committee is doing pretty well and keeps its dynamism. After the re-election of the office, it was decided to renew the activities organized during the last season. The boules contest will take place on the weekend of April 28th and 29th. The association will participate in the Telethon.

For reasons of availability, the stay in Ireland, originally scheduled for late June, has been postponed after the summer holidays. The departure is scheduled for Friday, September 14 for a return on Sunday, September 23. This stay is open to all.  [from ouest-france.fr]
