This morning (Thurs. 8th March 2018) at Millstreet Parish Centre three members of Cork Music Station presented a financial gesture (the result of a Draw during the recent CMS Awards Event at The Pub in Carriganima) to members of ROCS (Reach Out Cancer Support) to aid the praiseworthy work being carried out. We also arranged to interview Michelle O’Keeffe who is present Chairperson of ROCS. It was Michelle and Mairéad Daly (standing on extreme right) who originally established ROCS. Cheque Presentation from Christmas Mushera Climb 2016
Mushera Christmas Climb 2016
Fair play to all that braved the Mushera Mountain Climb on this wet and windy Christmas morning, in aid of our local Reach Out Cancer Support. Not for the faint heartded as the rain was horizontal on top of the mountain, but here’s a few of those that went up:
There was no hanging around at the top, and only this small group was there when we arrived Clara and Ainsey were collecting donations for ROCS at the start of the climbJohn Dineen, John Twomey, Darragh Twomey and Michael O’Riordan were having a break in some shelter
The Mushera Christmas Morning Climbers
People from Aubane and other parts of Millstreet Parish on the morning of Christmas Day
Climb to the summit of Mushera Mountain quite a daunting task one has to say
For those who sponsor them for their favorite charity for this credit in heaps they are due
To climb Mushera in the depths of Winter to a cause one would have to be true
On Christmas morning no matter what the weather they scale the heights of Mushera hill
It may be frosty, raining or snowing or the gale force winds blowing a cold chill
The Mushera Christmas morning climbers some of them years ago were young
For their courage they are well worth admiring and their praises deserve to be sung

Clara & Isabelle Help the Rapunzel Foundation Magnificently
We sincerely thank Michelle O’Keeffe for sharing the following selection of pictures and the inspiring story of how her daughters Clara and Isabelle have so generously been supporting the praiseworthy Rapunzel Foundation. Both Michelle and their Dad, Patrick can be so very proud of their daughters’ wonderfully courageous gesture to help others. Click on the images to enlarge. (S.R.)
“The Rapunzel Foundation was set up in 2011. Based in New Ross, Co.Wexford it is from there that Hair Salons send the wigs and it takes 20/25 ponytails to make one wig which are made in New Zealand. It is for children who suffer from alopecia or sickness and wish to wear a wig. The hair must be in good condition with no layers and cannot be dyed.
Hair salons need to register with the R.F. to accommodate the donors.
Clara donated her hair in Summer 2013.. aged 8.. 14 inches in Sharpes Hair Salon in Tralee.
Isabelle donated in june 2014.. aged 4..14 inches in Voodoo Salon in Boherbue.
The girls where great to do this as I personally know about hair loss due to sickness and I am a founding member of Reach Out Cancer Support..(ROCS).
I would encourage other children to grow their hair and donate as this is such a worthy cause.” (Michelle O’Keeffe)
And we now share some more pictures which Michelle has so kindly [read more …] “Clara & Isabelle Help the Rapunzel Foundation Magnificently”
