Wonderfully Successful Fundraising Quiz For Fisherman Supreme Luke

On Friday, 7th June 2019 a wonderfully successful fundraising Quiz was held at McCarthy’s Bar, Millstreet.  Special thanks to Joanne & Staff for creating such a welcoming atmosphere for all attending the very enjoyable Quiz superbly devised by Question Master supreme – Liam Flynn – assisted by Kathleen Flynn.   The Poster below explains the praiseworthy purpose of the Quiz:

Here we share not only images from the Quiz but also pictures which Luke’s father, Billy, has made available showing some of the awards already won by the splendidly talented Fisherman – Luke O’Donoghue.  There was tremendous support for the event and Thomas Galvin was especially praised for his promotional work.   One of our images below just illustrates the large number of prizes presented for the Draw.

Cork G.A.A. Mile Challenge in Town Park on Satruday at 11:00am

Kevin runs One Mile Challenge on Town Park

Champion fundraiser Kevin Donovan has taken on the huge challenge of running one mile in every GAA Club in County Cork. That is 156 fields, Kevin will run around the GAA ground at Millstreet Town Park on this Saturday (8th June 2019)  at 11am in a Millstreet GAA jersey.

The novel venture is in aid of the Cork Deaf Association and Parkinson’s Association of Ireland. Come along after the Féile Hurling game, join in and run or just cheer on Kevin.

 

Kevin’s Cork GAA Mile Challenge in Duhallow this Saturday entails visits to Castlemagner(9.15am), Millstreet(11am), Dromtariffe(12.30pm), Cullen(2.30pm) and Knocknagree(4pm).

Kerry Athletics Awards for Danielle and Frank O’Riordan

The Kerry Athletics Awards Banquet  took place in the Kenmare Bay Hotel Friday April 12th  2019.

On the night the excellent performances of the Athletes during 2018 were celebrated.

Uplifting and Inspiring Stats Regarding St. John’s GAA Club

Team Coach supreme, Jimmy Murphy, shares the following uplifting facts about the wonderfully successful St. John’s GAA Club (with Players from Aubane, Mushera, Millstreet, Kilcorney and beyond) especially after being victorious in the recent Final played at Ovens:

“A truly wonderful Team but also a truly unique Team.   Four families of brothers and two O’Keeffes – Denis and Paddy.   The Sheahans Tom and Adrian.   The Kellehers Brian and Denis.   The Corkerys Donal, Neil and Paudie.  Also Dave Barrett – son of Selector, John Barrett.   Dave is Uncle to Eric and Eoin.  But most unique of all must be Father and Son – Huey and Kevin Sheahan.   Truly unique stats and all the Team have great friendships.”

Two Rare Sights at Millstreet Town Park!

Our second very rare sight at Millstreet Town Park on Sat. 7th July 2018 is demonstrated here by Evan and Liam. Because of the extreme dry weather conditions the original driveway to the former Coomlogane House of the McCarthy-O’Leary Family is presently visible within the Pitch & Putt Course….near Green No. 2. The print of the driveway only becomes visible during very warm Summers.

Supreme Champions All on Friday in Newmarket

Sincere congratulations to the Sporting Champions of Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet B.N.S. and of Presentation N.S. who were both victorious in their Finals in Newmarket.   Scoil Mhuire BNS in the Duhallow Schools Hurling – Millstreet 3 goals 9 points to Ballyhass 3 goals 5 points.   Presentation N.S. in the Duhallow Schools Camogie A – Millstreet 5 goals 4 points to Rathcoole 5 goals 0 points.  All the Finals took place in Newmarket on Friday, 8th June 2018.   Here we share a selection of images taken when the wonderful Teams with their Teachers and Trainers arrived back in Millstreet.  Click on the pictures to enlarge.  (S.R.) Wonderful Success in Castleisland for Danielle & Frank O’Riordan

The Kerry Athletics U9 to U16 Track and Field Championships were held in An Ríocht Castleisland last Saturday and Sunday in the glorious sunshine! Frank and Danielle O’Riordan from Dromsicane, Millstreet both did really well. Frank winning Bronze in the U 13 shot Putt with his best throw this season. His sister Danielle was: 
1st in u13 shot
4th in U13 javelin
2nd u13 relay
1st U 14 Hammer
2nd U14 Discus
3rd in U14 Relay

Danielle and Frank Through to National Finals in Shot Putt

Danielle O’Riordan of Dromsicane, Millstreet  came 3rd in Munster competing the U13 Shot Putt in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary today (Sunday, 25th Feb. 2018). She qualified for the Nationals in Athlone on the 18th March which happens to be Danielle’s birthday!

And her brother Frank will be competing in the U12 Shot Putt Nationals on 25th March in Athlone also.

Sincere congratulations to both Danielle and Frank on such prestigious success and we wish them both every good luck in the National Competitions.  (S.R.)

Kilcorney Salutes Sportsman Supreme Conor O’Callaghan in Advance of Sunday’s All-Ireland

Conor O ‘ Callaghan surrounded by friends and supporters along with pupils and teachers from Kilcorney National School who gathered to give him a big send off as he heads for Croke Park on Sunday to play for Cork in the All Ireland Minor hurling final. Conor has already won two Munster medals as well as an All Ireland under 17 hurling medal. Danielle Wins Gold in Templemore in Shot Putt Event

Pictured below is Danielle O’Riordan who in July 2017 at the Munster B’s Athletic Event in Templemore, Co. Superb Danielle Competes in Shot Putt All-Ireland at Athlone

Recently Danielle O’Riordan from Dromsicane, Millstreet competed in Nenagh at the Munster Juveniles Indoors Competition . She came a brilliant second in the Under 12 Girls Shot Putt. This was her first time competing in the Shot Putt and to bring home a Silver Munster Medal was a fantastic achievement . She travelled to Athlone yesterday to compete in the All-Ireland where Danielle is now rated amongst the top eleven in Ireland.  Sincere congratulations on such a magnificent achievement and for being such a superb Sporting Ambassador for Millstreet at a hugely prestigious All-Ireland event in the heart of Ireland – Athlone. Danielle’s Mum – Eileen, of course, has won a hugely impressive amount of All-Ireland Sporting Awards over the years. The sporting talent which exists in abundance in Kilcorney N.S. divides its loyalty between Millstreet and Dromtarriffe. This year the green and gold are walking tall.

On the morning of Tuesday, January 13th 2015, the pupils of Kilcorney N.S. waited with unquenchable excitement for the arrival of Mark Ellis and the two trophies (oh, by the way William was coming too). A heavy blanket of sparkling snow enveloped  the usual green pastures of Kilcorney and all approaching roads were near impassable. Still it snowed – snow – snow – snow – snow.
