Possible Local Link with Soccer Star Caoimhín Kelleher
We thank Angela Twomey in Dublin (whose mother – Mary Kelleher -was a native of Minor Row, Millstreet) for the following very interesting information. Angela and her husband Jerry (from Millstreet) have been in touch with their Kelleher Cousins yesterday and say: “We believe there’s a Millstreet connection with Caoimhín Kelleher, the young Liverpool goalkeeper. We think his maternal grandfather was Jim Hegarty, the former creamery manager in Kilcorney. Caoimhín’s mother trained in Limerick PE college with Brian McSweeney of Millstreet and Cobh and his late father was Ray, a PE teacher in Pres.”
We extend sincere thanks to Angela and Jerry Twomey on sharing what is now a second link with a true Sports Star. Just a short time ago Joan Galwey (née Corkery) revealed Tipperary’s Colin O’Riordan’s direct connection with Millstreet also. Two Sport Stars with Millstreet Connections now added to the already renowned sporting tradition in Millstreet Parish. [read more …] “Possible Local Link with Soccer Star Caoimhín Kelleher”

Colin’s Company Sponsors Helen Cooney in Forthcoming World Event
Helen returned from the tournament with two bronze medals :-). See more here millstreet.ie.
Colin Mullane indicates: ” We are a local online company who were only founded in February of this year (Born2Transform Ireland) and
we are sponsoring a local athlete (Helen Cooney from Kilcorney who resides in Leeds, UK) who will be competing at the world kickboxing championships in the States in November.”
Born2Transform Ireland Sponsored Athlete Announcement!!!
The B2T Team would like to proudly announce Helen Cooney as a B2T Sponsored Athlete & welcome her to the team. B2T Irl Team Member, Colin, was on hand recently to present Helen with her Cheque & B2T T-Shirt for her trip to the World Championships.
Helen will be competing at the “World Kickboxing and Karate Commission World Championships” in Orlando Florida (http://www.wkcworld.com) from 6-10th November. She will be fighting in the Light Continuous Kickboxing Division. Unfortunately, it is an amateur sport, so everything is self funded so that is why B2T have come on board with Helen. She fought her way to a Bronze Medal last year in the same competition in Dublin & hopes to go harder & higher than that this year and aim for gold. B2T Irl are in no doubt that she will beat any fighter put in front of her and bring home a gold medal. She is the only Irish Fighter on the UK Team and she fights out of Shogun Martial Arts, Wakefield, Leeds.
If anyone would like to contribute to the development & backing of a great Irish fighter abroad, the link for sponsorship is
