Thank You from Strings Fiddle Group

2014-11-29 Choons for Children's Charities at Christmas - on stage in the GAA Hall‘STRINGS’ Fiddle Group would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all who helped and supported them with their recent fundraiser ‘Choons for Children’s Charities at Christmas‘. A great night was had by all and well over €600 was raised for a number of different charities.

On Saturday night 7.30, after mass we will host
“Choons for Childrens Charities at Christmas”

‘Strings’ will open proceedings!
Then there will be a cup of tea.
After this, the ‘challenge’ is open to everyone … So please bring an instrument or your singing voice on the night!
There will be different ‘stations’ in the hall where you can go play a tune or sing a verse of a song and donate to childrens charities…
All donations/ monies collected on the night will be sent to childrens charities before Christmas… Members of ‘Strings’ , as the hosts , have chosen the childrens charities we will be donating to.

also from Geraldine: Next Saturday night ‘STRINGS’ Fiddle Group Will host a challenge “Choons for Children’s Charities at Christmas” in the GAA hall at half 7. The group will give the same performance as they gave in Scartaglin two weeks ago. All are welcome to come and see them. Admission is free but we are hoping to raise some money for a number of children’s charities on the night. There will be donation buckets for anyone who would like to contribute. There will be tea, coffee, biscuits, maybe a bun or two and great music. People are invited to bring along their instruments and join in. "Strings" truly impressed the capacity audience at Scartaglin Heritage and Cultural Centre on Saturday, 15th Nov. 2014.  The excellent 23 minute performance may be heard on Cork Music Station on my weekly programme "Radio Treasures" (9.30 to 11.00 pm) at 9.45 tonight (Tuesday  18th Nov.). Superbly Talented “Strings” Musical Group Appearing in Scartaglin on Saturday, 15th November 2014

On Nov 15 next as part of the Handed Down series in Scartaglin, Emer Twomey & 'Strings' will perform along with other Cork musicians ..  The fiddle group 'Strings' was first set up in 2011 by Emer Twomey to promote the learning of fiddle playing and the learning of traditional music particularly that of Sliabh Luachra in the Millstreet area.  In 2012 'Strings' were invited to the North Atlantic fiddle convention in Derry. They took part in the youth fiddle camp & performed one of Neil Martin new compositions '100 Fiddlers at 55° North' The current group of young fiddlers in 'Strings' are  (fiddle) Sarah Dennehy, Anna Buckley, Patrick Buckley, Orlaith Twomey, Leah Murphy, Niamh Smyth, Hannah O'Regan, Linda Desmond, Katie Hickey, Lisa Fitzgerald, Siobhán Cronin, Meabh Buckley, Eabha Sheehan, Orla Twomey, Daniel O' Callaghan, Katie Linehan, Katie Crowley, Conor Daly, Bridelle Cronin and Alanna Barry & (keyboard) Diarmuid Cronin, Darragh Twomey, Gemma O' Regan & Bridelle Cronin.
