Thank you to everyone who supported the Trad for Trócaire event that took place in Millstreet Community School on Friday 9th November. It was a great evening of traditional song and music performed by the students, from 1st year all the way up to Leaving Certs. Ms Janet Twomey (Trócaire, Cork) spoke about the type of projects that would benefit from money raised from the evening. The event raised a total of €410 for Trócaire’s work. Thank you to everyone who attended the Trad for Trocaire event that took place on Friday 7th October 2016 in Millstreet Community School. It was an evening of fine traditional music, song and dance. Well done to all the students who participated. A total of €297 was raised to support Trocaire’s work. Thanks for your generosity.

A Trad for Trocaire event will take place in Millstreet Community School library on Friday 7th October 2016, starting at 7.30pm. This will be a chance for students from all year groups to share their traditional Irish music, song and dance skills with the wider community. It will also be a chance to raise money to support Trocaire’s work among some of the poorest communities in the world. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a collection for Trocaire during the event.

Trad for Trocaire event – Fri. 9th Oct. @7.30pm in Millstreet Community School
A Trad for Trocaire event will take place in Millstreet Community School library on Friday 9th October beginning a 7.30pm. Students from 1st year to leaving cert will be dancing, singing and playing traditional Irish music. They’ll be raising the roof at the same to time as raising money to support Trocaire’s vital work with some of the poorest communities in developing countries. Two of the Transition Year students who are helping to co-ordinate the event, James Linehan and Darren Kiely, are due to play a few tunes to advertise the event on c103’s Cork Today with Patricia Messenger at about 11.45am tomorrow (3rd Oct)

Millstreet Community School: Trad for Trócaire
Millstreet Trad for Trócaire: Students from all year groups in Millstreet Community School are gearing up for the Trad for Trocaire event that will be taking place in the school library on Friday 12th October 2012. It will be an evening of traditional music, song and dance, which will be entertaining as well as providing an opportunity to raise funds to help support Trócaire’s work with the poorest of the poor in developing countries.
On the same day the school will be welcoming four visitors from Belgium (two teachers and two lecturers in education) who belong to an organisation called Studio Globo. They will be here as part of the European Union funded project called MDG ‘15 that school chaplain John Magee went to India as part of in November 2011. MDG ’15 focuses on the Millennium Development Goals, in particular MDG 7 ‘Ensure Environmental Sustainability’ and MDG 8 ‘Develop a Global partnership for Development’, and the efforts being made to raise awareness about them through schools in [read more …] “Millstreet Community School: Trad for Trócaire”

Next October, students from all year groups, as well as pupils from the national schools will be invited to sing, dance and play traditional music, at the same time as raising funds for Trócaire’s work amongst the poorest of the poor.
