 The Christmas season began in earnest in Cullen on Friday Dec. 7th December 2007with our 15th Annual Christmas Mass and Party. Proceedings got under with Mass celebrated by Fr. Gerard O’Leary, C.C. and the local Church Choir added to the celebration. A feast of edible delights, all made locally, the delicious aroma of hot punch, music, singing and dancing got all in the right mood for Christmas. The musicians  excelled and delighted the enthusiastic dancers with the best of dance music.  Thanks to all the people who gave generous sponsorship, voluntary donations and spot prizes, those who helped on the night, and especially all who attended in such great numbers. There was an excellent turnout with many new faces joining the regulars and all those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This party is a great meeting place for friends to relax, talk and renew friendships.

Great credit is due to the organising committee who did trojan work behind the scenes to ensure that everything was in order for the evening. Since the group was established in 1992, it has organised 15 Christmas parties and 16 Summer outings, all of which have been most enjoyable and very successful. These events are now established in our community calendar, and are an
invaluable service for our older people.
 Once again we have reached the winter months, the time of year when our Senior citizens and people living alone are most vulnerable. Everybody should be alert to the needs of their neighbour.  One should take note of strangers and suspicious incidents and report to the local Gardai.
