“The Twelve Counties Railtour MkII”
Saturday 22nd May 2010
Originally scheduled to run on the 3rd October 2009 but having to be cancelled due to the bridge collapse at Malahide, we again offer participants a full days diesel hauled travel in comfortable conventional hauled coaches travelling the length of the island of Ireland. Using the RPSI Mk II rolling stock, the train will commence from their operating base at Whitehead and use a combination of NIR 111 Class and Irish Rail 071 Class locomotives to travel to Killarney and Tralee. Covering over 650 miles and travelling through 12 of Ireland’s 32 counties, the tour represents one of the longest out and back journeys that can be accommodated within the normal daily operating hours of today’s railways.
Starting at Whitehead RPSI Excursion Platform depart 05.25 return 23.50 hrs# – an 18½ hour day! From Belfast Central depart 06.00 return 23.25#…
