This year the collectors were blessed with fine weather which was a welcome change from the adverse weather that they had to endure in previous years. In total € 5,162 were collected. Mary FitzGeralds Coffee Morning at the GAA Hall amounted to €1,000 and €5,162 was brought in by those volunteers who worked around the town. Well done to all who took part and they want to thank all those who enabled them to collect this fine figure for cancer research.

On Saturday night our Community Singers gave a recital at the Green Glens in advance of the Fleadh Ceol which was organised by the local Comhaltas Group. It was a highly successful event, and a very large crowd attended.

The Nationwide team paid a visit to the Barry home at Lackabawn recently. The Barry Family are well-known for their huge collection of machinery and farm implements which they have accumulated over the years. Ford Tractors are currently celebrating one hundred years in Ireland And last Saturday they came to Lackabawn for the big event.

41 Ford Tractors were brought together for the historic occasion. From a 1937 Dextor to a mighty brand new, New Holland. Our local Vintage Club gathered, and by kind permission of the Duggan Family they went in procession through the beautiful Drishane Estate and through the town, before returning to base where they were treated to tea and scones to bring this great event to an end.

The Nationwide Program which was made at the Barry home will be aired on the Nationwide program following the six o clock news on Wedneday April 12th.
