It was a very busy Easter weekend and the beautiful weather made it possible to enjoy many outdoor events.
Very large crowds attended the Easter ceremonies in the churches and we are so grateful to the members of our clergy who put in long hours to make it all so meaningful.
Following the three o’clock ceremonies on Good Friday the Divine Mercy Novena was started, and will continue in the church at 3 o’clock every day until next Sunday. Those who cannot attend the church every day can pray the Novena at home. The closing ceremony will be held in the church on Sunday next at 3pm. Please try to attend.
Our commemoration committee left no stone unturned to prepare for the annual commemoration ceremony at the monument in the town Square on Easter Sunday. The pipe band led the parade through the town. The oration was given by the well known Ryle Dwyer, and the Cobh Animation Team representing Cumann na mBan, came in for very special mention. For this years event a new state of the Art flag pole was put in place, and will continue to be a valuable asset for all future occasions.
Sean Radley held Cruinniu na Casca, celebration of Easter in the town on Easter Monday which included a visit to the Museum and a conducted tour of the Town.
The residents of Drishane held a Garden Fete on Easter Monday. And the children especially enjoyed hours of Bouncing Castles, bag races, Easter egg hunts, while parents sat back and relaxed in the warm sunshine.

Our renowned friend Joanne O Riordan will celebrate her 21st Birthday on Monday next April 24. Sharing it will Johnnie McAvoy, Enda Kenny and mé féin to name but a few. Joanne returned to England this week to finalise her studies over there before coming over to continue here. And we wish her the best of Good Luck.
A feature that was pointed out to me today, that four years ago when Joanne was 18 I was 81. Three years later I am four times her age. Think about it, Joanne and I keep on meeting on the calendar of Life.
The Nationwide program which was centred at the Barry Family Home in Lackabawn, gave us outstanding joy and pride. The event which was blessed by fine weather, projected us as a beautiful vibrant place. The program was recorded by many, to be viewed and enjoyed for years to come. We have to congratulate the Barry family for playing host to such a huge undertaking. Well done to everybody who helped in any way with the program.
This is a very important day here in Millstreet when our newly refurbished Post Office will be officially opened at 11 am , and blessed by Fr. Billy Radley. And while we wish Julie Kelleher every success for the future, we want to extend our sincere thanks to Trish Moynihan and her staff for their wonderful service and attention for the past number on years.

Our Bog Committee held their AGM at the Canon O Donovan Centre last week It was very well attended with many orders being placed . Chairman is Liam Flynn and Secretary Michael McCarthy and both men have been at the helm of this important service for the past 34 years. and the good news is that turf cutting will begin next week , as usual by Kilcorney man Dubby Twomey.
There’s an urgent notice here from our Tidy Towns Committee to say that their first major clean-up will be held on Saturday next April 22nd. Please clean up your own place and come out and be one of the team who will not only clean up now but continue to work together in the months ahead.
