In spite of wind and weather the 31st annual National Dairy Show went ahead at the Green Glens Arena on Saturday. The organisers reported a record crowd in attendance  with the number of entries well on par with previous years. Once again the mighty Green Glens Arena proved its worth with all the prize cattle,  the people,  the machinery and all that went with them, enjoying warmth and comfort indoors while the elements raged outside.

This weekend will see the annual Pony Owners Show from October 27 -29th inclusive.  It is held every year for charity  and is the ideal place for the young and the not so young, to see youngsters on tiny ponies doing their bit, as good as the more advanced competitors. On Sunday evening they will have a feature not to be missed when the spectacular graduations will be held. It’s when those reaching the age of sixteen will proceed to a higher grade, and the colourful fun n games have to be seen to be believed. Admission is free.

I’ve a note here from John Joe Herlihy to say that the dance that he held at the Edel Quinn Hall recently in aid of Millstreet and Kanturk Hospitals was a great success and the CD that was launched that night is now on sale over a wide area. It features many of our favourite entertainers and at a mere €10, and is a must for your collection or an ideal Christmas gift.

Every good wish to the people of Carriganima who are off to Dunmanway tomorrow, October.25th aboard the rural transport bus for a Gala Tea Dance and entertainment. They leave at 11am.

A note from Seamus Curtin to say that due to the storm damage in Kilcorney Church that Sunday Mass will be said in the local Community Centre  at 10.30, until further notice.
