Eily’s Report – 30th January

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my weekly report.

There is a great uplifting air about the place in spite of the weather this week. The  Millstreet Got Talent Contest was an outstanding success.

Since the heats began last December there has been widespread  speculation, with the results of each  one, building up excitement  to the grand finale which went ahead at the Wallis Arms Hotel last Friday Night. The finalists performed to a full house and the results were deemed fair to all.

The lingering  of flu epidemic  took it’s toll on one popular finalist and indeed upon myself. And I was very sorry that I missed it. But while licking my wounds I couldn’t help having a happy feeling about it all. Happy in my own way that it went ahead without me. And that, after over forty years, I was able to sit back and leave it all to a group of fine young people who are willing to put their shoulder to the wheel, with the help of course of a number of the old reliables.

Also at Friday Nights function at the Wallis Arms Hotel, the Proprietor William Sheehan presented a Cheque from the proceeds of the Women’s Christmas Party  to Mairead Daly, in aid of her Reach out to Cancer Project.

The lotto Draw on Sunday night brought its own wave of excitement, when our Jackpot of €8,400 was won at McCarthys Bar. To a winner  was Matthew Bradley from Coachford  working at Alps with lots of  local  Connections.  And the seller Michelle Whelan ,who sold the ticket received €840.

€20 Each went to the following, Jordan and Tim Kiely, Killarney Road .Delia Murphy, Ballydaly, Kayley and Sandra Enright c/o John Enright. Mary Jo Bucke c/o the Wallis Arms,J ohn, Bex, and Murt Ambrose c/o John Enright, Fionn O Mahony, c/o Colemans, Mary Kelleher, Keim, Celina O Mahony, Inchileigh  and
