We’ve been working away quietly in the background for the last few days improving your experience on millstreet.ie. Most of these you won’t notice, but here are a few few of the things that you should be more obvious:
- The ever lengthening List of Categories have been removed from the right sidebar and now appear as drop-down menus on top of the header.
- The List of Pages have been removed from the right sidebar, and now appear as drop-down menus at the bottom of the header.
- There are a few improvements in navigation around the site:
- When reading an article on its own, you now have Previous & Next buttons on top, so you don’t have to go back to the main menu every time.
- The Search box has been moved to the top-right corner, and the search is now working better too!
- A change to the background so the blog is not so dark.
- Social media buttons have been added to the header to save space.
These changes have been on the back-burner for the last few months because of a lack of time, but finally they are being completed. There are plans for other minor changes in the next while, and these are mostly just reorganising the data on the site.
If you have ideas how you’d like to see the site improved, then please go to our contact page and let us know from there. It can be anything, we’d love to hear.
Hope you like the changes, but the site really isn’t going to change much!!!
thanks for visiting, from all at millstreet.ie
Many thanks to you and your team, Michael, for all your time and dedication in creating and maintaining this superb website. I find myself bringing people up-to-date with what’s happening in Millstreet – from Calgary! It’s a touchstone of my day…and it looks great on iPad.
thanks Donal, it’s a nice hobby to have and it keeps me in touch with the programming scene since I gave it up and went back farming some nine years ago (yikes!). I never thought about it running on an iPad or iPhone, that’s just a nice benefit of the software millstreet.ie is built on.
But, regardless of how it looks, it’s nothing without the articles / photos etc that people send in. That’s what keeps people coming back, it’s just a matter of organising it so that it’s easy for people to get around.
