This weekend we welcomed our new Parish Priest Fr. John FitzGerald, he will have the daunting tack of presiding over the entire parish, with its three churches and a sprawling congregation. And as we welcome him in we assure him of our full support and co-operation. And may God bless his work.
And on the subject of people I want to say well done to the places who have started to hold ,”getting–to-know-the-neighbours” gatherings . In these days of doom ‘n gloom and uncertainty there is nothing more encouraging than to know the name of all those around you and be on friendly a familiar terms with them, I hope the idea grow and flourish in many other places.
Some of our National School children have been involved in drama classes with the children from may other countries now living at Drishane Castle, and on Friday afternoon next they will give a display of their arts at Drishane. As well as that some of our people are engaging in food tasting and cooking with some of the adult ladies of Drishane. All with the view to breaking down barriers between people regardless of race or creed.

The Tourism branch of our Development Group will host a gala Dance at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday August 6th. Entitled Mid-Summer Madness it will include a BBQ, plus a €100 prize for the Best Summer outfit on the night. Early music by the Celt followed by a Disco with DJ Mark Nev, and all for a mere €10 . So start looking out for that prize-winning outfit.
Church Gate Colections in aid of Mallow Hospital will be held this weekend July 31st and Aug 1st at Ballydaly, Dernagree and Dromtarriffe.
Further to that I have a letter from Michael Corkery Chairman of the Dromahane Supporters of Mallow Hospital to say that they are hosting a 24hour hurling marathon in Mallow on Friday /Saturday September10th and 11th.with the view of entering the Guinness Book of Records. 46 GAA Clubs from Duhallow and Avondhu have nominated a player This Marathon will be launched at the Mallow GAA club this Thursday evening July 19th and all are welcome.Please give it your full support.

Millstreet Juvenile GAA would like to congratulate its U.16 footballers who defeated Boherbue in the Duhallow League Final Friday night last in Cullen. Millstreet 2-06 Boherbue 1-07.
They would also like to congratulate their U.14 hurlers who won a county hurling title last Thursday night in Blarney. They defeated Ballinhassig on a scoreline of Millstreet 2-15 to Ballinhassig 3-04.
Special thanks to all the supporters who travelled on the night. It meant a lot to the team and mentors.
Last evening, Millstreet were defeated by Freeemount in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship played in Banteer.
I want to extend a very fond Cead Mile Failte to all those who are visiting us at the moment, especially Tommy & Breda (O Leary) Sheehan,(Ceim & Gortavehy) who are home from Australia and Pat McSweeney and his sister Sheila and the Children who are home from the USA. The joy of welcoming old friends is beyond measure, We do hope they enjoy their stay.
