We beat City Wanderers 3-2 in CIT this morning (Sunday 5th September). City Wanderers started better but were unable to create much until they went ahead after 20 mins with a well worked goal. We responded well and had a great chance for Chris Cleary but his shot went over the bar. 5 mins before half time we were level. Finbarr Corcoran sent a long ball out of defense and Tadhg Collins beat the keeper in a race for the ball to slot home. The second half saw us dominate but we conceded against the run of play after 60 mins. Again, we came back well and Collins forced a good save from the keeper. The goal was coming though and after 70 mins Paul Dawson set Cleary free down the left and though his shot was well saved, Collins was on hand to finish. We were pushing for the winner and it duly arrived in the 77th min. Eamon O Keeffe swung in a corner and, when the keeper misjudged the flight of it, Cleary was there to nod home the winner. City tried to push for an equaliser but we held on comfortably. Best for us on the day were Mick Collins, Chris Cleary and Tadhg Collins.
