Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this calm and wet, Tuesday morning, the last one in September.
This was very sad week in Millstreet when the remains of 54 yr old Tadgh Moynihan were brought home to his native Millstreet, all the way from Australia where he met an accidental death over a week ago. He was widely revered in Australia and again when his body lay in repose at Tarrants funeral home .The procession of sympathisers when on for many hours. And the Parish Church was full to capacity for the requiem Mass which was concelebrated by seven priests. A private Mass for the Family was said at the funeral home on Sunday and becuse for Tagdy’s love for Sport, the Sam Maguire Cup was brought for that occasion. He will be so sadly missed. On behalf of our community I want to extend our deepest sympathy to his Family. And may the lovely Tadgh, Rest in Peace.
On a lighter note I want to congratulate Noel C Duggan on succeeding in his efforts to remove sanctions imposed by the SJI on competitors who took part in Millstreet Summer Horse Show this year. It was not an easy task, but he took them on and won. Well done to himself and his family. See our Website for more details.
Still with the family, there’s a notice here to say that a special Mass will be celebrated at the chapel of the Little Flower, Drishane Castle on this Thursday night, September 30th. The Feast Day of St Teresa Starting at 8.30. Refreshments will be served afterwards and all are welcome.
A great day was had by all in Rathmore on Sunday when they extended last years fair to include, a dog show, horses, fowl, on-street dancing, stalls, and they got fine weather throughout.

Holy Ghost Missionaries want to say a sincere word of thanks to all those who supported their recent collection in Millstreet parish which amounted to €2,136.73.
Mary FitzGerald’s coffee morning in aid of Mary Mount Hospice amounted to just under €1,000. Again many thanks to all who helped and contributed.
And Joan Anders wants to thank all those who helped her with her many fundraising tasks in aid of Bru Columbanus, at the weekend. She will give her financial report as soon as it comes to hand.

This week sees the new changes in our Masses and times. We will have no 8.30 in Millstreet on Sundays, from now on. We will have the Vigil Mass at 6,30 on Saturday evening and 11.30 on Sundays. Sunday morning Mass in Ballydaly will be at 9.00 and in Cullen at 10.15.
Our Youth Club will re-open on this Friday Oct 1st from 8-10pm. All those attending must bring their registration forms with them.
A million congratulations to our Tidy owns Committee on coming first in category C, and congrats also to those who won prizes for best private gardens and commercial fronts. Presenting of prizes takes place at the Wallis Arms Hotel on To-morrow Wednesday night.
Lots of places came in for special mention from the judges, not least among them our beautiful Tubrid Well.
Only a few days left to visit our lovely Country Park, it closes around the end of this month.
LTV2 is due back on your screens this Thursday at Ten and the repeat on Sunday at 8.pm. The first two programs will be repeats. After that it will be live shows as usual. The crew are inviting the public to take an active part in the making of programs by way of advice, ideas, or any other information that would help.
Our Citizens Advice Office in the Main Street will be open on Friday next October 1st from 10am to 12.
GAA This evening, Millstreet play Kanturk in the Duhallow U14 Hurling Knockout Championship Final in Banteer at 6pm.
Millstreet U12 Hurlers will play winners Kanturk and Boherbue in the final of the Duhallow Championship, this Friday night in Ballydesmond at 8 and we wish them the best of good luck.
