Yesterday we had the National Schools Sports Day in the Town Park, with little ones arriving home in high spirits bearing treasured trophies. A Pitch ‘n Putt competition is planned for this evening. The Children of Rathcoole School are still reeling from the privilege of coming face to face with Prince Charles.
Fr. Paddy is saying Mass at Tubrid Well this evening to celebrate one of his Priestly anniversaries. Starting at 7.30 and all are welcome.

On Thursday a coffee morning will be held at the GAA Hall in aid of Motor Neuron disease, from 9.30 to 12,30. Please support it well.
On Thursday June 21st also we are all invited to our SuperValu Store from 3 to 5 pm, when SuperValu and the Cork County Council, Southern Region Waste Management Office are hosting a Waste Management Information evening in conjunction with our Tidy Towns Group. There will be a carnival atmosphere, comprising of Art Competitions, Music, Side Shows, and a demonstration By Mary Louise Ward author of Smart Store Cooking, recipe book. It’s all with the view of achieving the three R’s, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse. All ages welcome, Spot Prizes and food tasting. It’s a First in the all out attempt to deal with widespread waste and littering. Thursday June 21st, the longest day of the year.
We would like to complement our students who have completed their Inter and Leaving Cert exams. And wish them a carefree summer and a word of caution to please stay safe.
Looking forward, Our Community Council is inviting representatives from all the pubs, clubs, groups, organisations and businesses, in fact everyone who is interested in taking part in this year’s Cultural night which will be held countrywide on September 21st. It’s an annual celebration of our culture, creativity and arts. The meeting will be held at the Wallis Arms on Tuesday, June 26th at 8pm. Please attend it well.

The annual open Day at the beautiful garden of Gertie and Maurice O’Donoghue, Dromboy, Carrignavar, will be held on next Sunday June 24th from 2 to 6pm. It will be sign posted on the Mallow/Cork Road. Proceeds in aid of Marymount Hospice.
Next Sunday also the annual Feis Laitiarain will be held in Cullen, starting at 12 noon with all the usual attractions.
