In a matter of weeks now His Holiness Pope Francis will be here with us in Ireland to celebrate the World Meeting of Families. The Family is the nerve centre of our society and it is a great honour that the World Leader of the Catholic church is coming to our little country for such a big event. By all accounts tickets for the various venues where he will attend are going well.
Booking of tickets for the final Mass in Phoenix Park on August 26 is now closed. But a few can still be had at our Parish Office 02970043.
The church is going through a challenging time at the moment and we hope and pray that the Pope’s visit will rekindle in us all a deep hope for the future.
The Cullen Special Needs Association held their annual Harvest Fundraising afternoon on Sunday, with great success. Great merit is due to those who keep the flag flying in spite of dwindling numbers of helpers over the years. Work behind the scenes goes on every time,such as the planting and saving of the corn ,and having it in pristine condition for the all important threshing.
The busy sound of the threshing machine as it separates the grain from the golden straw, never fails to fill people with thoughts of the past. And they come year after year to hear it.
The Cullen pipe band who came fourth in the All Ireland Championships at New Ross, had the honour of playing at Áras an Uachtaráin, for President Higgens and his wife Sabina.
And still with Cullen, a Table Quiz will be held at Flemings Bar on Friday night next July 20th, starting at 9. Please support it well.
