Eily’s Report – 24th July

The big news this week has to be the restoration of our ambulance service to it’s original 24/7 status. Our Community Council, have fought long and hard for this vital development, and in his response Chairman Mr. Noel Buckley said that all the hard work of the Community Council and all those connected with the ambulance Service have to be lauded and congratulated. And now that we have a regular Ambulance service again we must make sure that it is treated with the greatest of care and respect.

Eileen Broxton wants to thank all those who supported her recent Coffee morning in aid of Motor Neuron Disease, which amounted to €3,196. Well done all round.

The Cullen and District Special Needs Association want to thank all those who supported their recent Harvest afternoon.

The Soap Box Race which was held at Mount Leader on Sunday was a great success. The fine weather added to the enjoyment of this annual event. From grown adults to five year old little boys and girls took part with the children’s section standing out for its fun and entertainment value. And everyone of them getting a medal just for turning up and taking part. Organisers The Men’s Shed  came in for great praise for this section which proved very encouraging for the youngsters. The top accolade went to Healy’s  Bar Kilcorney. Well done to all concerned.

 

It’s Horse Show time again, and this year we will have a feast of equine events running from Wednesday August 15th to Sunday August 26th .

 

From the 15th to the 19th the Millstreet International Horse Show ,bringing horses and people from many foreign Countries.

 

From Wednesday August 22nd to Sunday 26th the Millstreet International Horse Trials, incorporating FEI Nations Cup Eventing. Which will held over the World Class Eventing Course at Drishane.

 

Already there is a brisk demand for accommodation. And those having the likes to offer please contact the office at the Green Glens, 02970800.

 

These mighty events will be followed in October by the annual Pony and Young Riders Show which is run every year for charity.

 

 

 

The Tidy Towns Committee are asking us all to row in behind them and keep Millstreet and its approach roads clean and brightly decorated as we welcome to cream of the equine world to our doorstep in the coming months. And also help them in this years National Competition.

 

Already our Credit Union which is a focal point in our town is getting a brand new coat of blue.

 

I found the hub cap of a Land Cruiser, outside my gate.  Its by the wall across the road if  the owner wants to retrieve it.

 

Dont forget to tune in to Sean Radley’s weekly program on line at Cork Music Station every Tuesday night from 9.30 to 11.

 

Its always full of snippets of news and some lovely music. Special guest this week the popular Greg, the Polish man who is manager of our Herlihys Centra Store in the West End. It would be great if those who are computer literate would turn it on for for those who cannot access it. It can be found on our website.

 

The Special little boy called Jacob, who was born 6 years ago with no eyes, is about to leave us and return with his  parents to their native Poland. Since his birth, the family have endeared themselves to our community, and many fundraisers were held for their benefit. And for their cause,  next Sunday July 29th a massive Truck Run will be held eaving Mountleader Industrial Estate at noon and returning to a monster BBQ .

The next dance at the Platform in Mushera will be on July 29th with Music be PJMurihy and great afternoon is assured.

 

Here are the results of this weeks lotto draw which was held at the Bush Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 2,14,22,23.
