First things first and today I must extend out heartiest congratulations to our wonderful U12 Camogie Team on winning the County Final on Saturday in Blackrock beating St Fanahan’s in an exciting finish. They came home to a wonderful welcome, and I want to say well done to them and all those associated with the team. They can justly take a bow.
The Dairy Show which has been running here every year since 1982 was again an outstanding success at the Green Glens Arena last Saturday. The annual event brings great business to the town and the crowds come from many parts of the world to compete with the cream of livestock or just to just to see and to meet and to learn. And above all to enjoy. The meeting of like minded people is very important where they can thrash out the pros and cons of the challenges that they meet in a changing world.
Right on the tail of the National Dairy Show we have the Pony Owners Show coming from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th This is a very Family orientated Show, with tiny children riding tiny ponies, a wonderful spectacle for young children to see. Admission is free all the way and the proceeds of the Show goes to Charity every year.
The Prestigious Self Build Show will be coming on November 10/11, again a great event to look forward to.
Halloween is upon us and A Gala Fancy Dress Ball will be held at the Bush Bar and promises to be great. The proceeds will go to the Rylane Boxing Club, who continue to do great work for so many of our young people over the years. Go there and be part of the fun.
Still with the Bush Bar, a reunion of those who worked at Molex some years ago, is being held there on Saturday, November 3rd. And as many possible are asked to come and bring any photos and other memorabilia, to make the occasion more enjoyable.
Halloween Disco in the GAA Hall on Friday 26th 7-9. Raffle,Tuck Shop and proceeds go to the Primary School Fund.
Table Quiz at Hourigan’s Bar on next Friday night November 2nd in aid of MS. Please support it well.
Many Congratulations to Hannah Kelleher of Cullen who retired from her teaching post recently and we wish her every success in the future.
November ceremonies in our Church will include Mass in Cullen for those who died during the past year on Sunday November 4th at 10.15 and will be followed by the blessing of Graves.
In Millstreet at our 11.30 Mass last Sunday some fruits of the earth were displayed on the alter and the Canon John, gave thanks to the Lord for the wonderful Harvest.
November ceremonies in Millstreet include Mass for all those who passed away during the year will be said in Millstreet on Saturday November 10th at 6.30 and the blessing of graves will be held next day Sunday after 11.30 Mass at St, Marys at 12.45 and Drishane at 1pm.
