Our local branch of St. Vincent de Paul will hold their annual church gate collections this weekend Saturday/Sunday December 8/9, before all Masses at Ballydaly, Cullen, Dromtarriffe, Dromagh Kilcorney and Millstreet. Please give generously to this important collection and with your help our volunteers will make Christmas better for many needy people in our community.
The Cullen and District Special Needs Association held their annual Mass and Christmas Party at the weekend. Mass was celebrated at 1.30 by Fr. O’Keeffe and the local choir attended, with beautiful seasonal hymns. In excess of 80 special people attended, along with their parents, guardians and friends. Following the Mass some lovely refreshments were served and then there was music and dancing . While some members of the Red Cross provided soothing hand massage to guests and members alike. As the evening light was fading every special guest was presented with a parting gift. But there was just one drawback at this years show, someone very important was missing and his absence was felt very much. For the first time in forty years Dr. Pat Casey couldn’t make it because of another engagement. He was sadly missed especially at the presenting of gifts, when he always gave a loving hug, to send everybody home with a smile. Well done again to the Cullen Special Needs Association .

The Aubane Social Club held their annual Mass And Christmas Party on Friday night. The Mass was celebrated by their own Fr.James McSweeney and the Parish Choir with Jane Daly sang some beautiful Yuletide hymns. There was a capacity crowd. Following Mass in true Aubane style there was a profusion of lovely refreshments, even gluten free for those who needed it. And there was a lot of chat and interaction. Marie Twomey and the Community Singers gave a recital which was very well received.
All in all both Cullen and Aubane were two occasions of true community events which brought people together in a joyful way which is to be admired. Well done all round.
Our Community Council are pleased to say that there was a great response to their Text Alert renewal notice. Marie Twomey (Priests Cross) and Dan Collins, (Tanyard) are in charge of the project. They say that numbers are on par with previous years. The application closes this Friday December 7th. And the Community Council want to thank both Guerin’s Shop in Ballydaly and Niamh at Wordsworth in Millstreet for facilitating the project. Thanks also to our Garda Síochána for setting up the Text Alert scheme in our area which helps us to stay safe by being warned of any unto word happenings in the area.
The Christmas Lights are being put up in the town at the moment and the Lighting Up ceremony will take place on This Friday December 7th at 6.30 pm. All are invited to come along. Marie Twomey and the Community singers will be there to add their own flavour to the happy occasion.
Please keep Millstreet clean and tidy and dog owners are asked to clean up after their pets.
The Town Park is closed at the moment, until the start of January.
Saturday December 8th, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. A day of special prayer.

Eucharistic Adoration continues each week in Millstreet every Tuesday and Wednesday after ten am Mass to 10.30pm, and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10.am to 7pm. Confessions in Millstreet every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.
