Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this cold and snowy Tuesday morning of the shortest day of 2010.
Among so many other things our Lotto draw fell victim of the adverse weather on Sunday night. That coupled with the death of Dan Hinchion beloved Dad of Marie Twomey who along with her husband, Denis, are leading members of the Lotto committee . And on behalf of the committee I want to extend to them and their families, our sincere sympathy .Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
The Lotto draw will now be held to-night at McCarthy’s Bar. And the next one will be in two weeks time Sunday January 9th at the Clara Inn.
Just about everything that was planned for this week has been cancelled
or deferred. All schools are closed which put pay to the excitement of the little Nativity plays that the little children had prepared, and the excitement of day of the holidays.
The weekly Bingo is cancelled for Thursday night.
Santa came to Carriganima on Sunday. Not by helicopter, because of the weather, but he had his real live deer ,which went down a treat with all the children. And a great time was had by all.

The Annual Christmas Day climb of Mushera Mountain promises to be a real challenge this time and so will the New Years Day Swim in the Blackwater, but they are all for good causes which always seems to ease the pain.
Round the Fire will go ahead in Aubane on December 29th .
And on January 6th ,there is a gala event at the Wallis Arms Hotel to celebrate the Women’s Christmas. Tickets at €20 each can be had from Mairead Daly .Please buy yours right away to avoid disappointment and so that she can calculate numbers. Music on the night by the ever popular Kelt.
Please help our hardworking Post Office staff . Buy you stamps in bulk and try and go there outside of peak time. They provide us with a wonderful service, so let us help them all we can.
We would like to welcome Mr. Herlihy who has taken over our Centra Store in the West End and wish him and the staff every success for the future.
Just four days to Christmas. And our Church services are as follows. Confessions on Friday from 12.30 to 1. Vigil Mass on Christmas Night will be at 10.30. and next day at 8.30 and 11.30. in Millsteet. In Ballydaly on Christmas Day at 9am. And in Cullen at 8 and 10.15.
People who took Christmas-tree cards to sign the names of loved ones on them, are asked to return them by Thursday so they can be placed on the tree on the alter.

And I want to say a special hello to a few nice Macroom people that I met recently ,and who join us both on Radio & TV every week. Seamus & Pauline McPolin and Bridget Atkinson, to name but a few.

The weather is severe now to say the least,but don’t let it blur the memory of the beautiful summer that we’ve had and the abundant crops that it gave us as well as months of beautiful sunshine.Let us pray for more of the same in the year to come.
