Hannelie OConnor is getting friendly messages from all quarters to congratulate her that her native South Africa are World Rugby Champions. Its not often that we have only one person to send our cheers to at global level, so Dear Hannelie on behalf of our community, please accept our heartiest congratulations, on what must have been an ultra proud moment for you.
The Month of the Holy Souls is moving on and our Church services continue. This year we are asked to pray for different things each week for the month. Week one, Pray for the Souls of family and ancestors.
On Saturday night November 9th the Church Choir will attend the 6.30 Mass which will be said for all those who have died in Millstreet and Ballydaly in the past year. All the names are displayed at the beautiful November Garden which can be visited at the end of the church.
The IRD Duhallow Newsletter for November is out and it is full of useful information on how to improve your home before the real bad weather sets in. Ask about their Warm Home Scheme and their furniture department is well worth a visit. Their Showroom is open every day from Monday to Friday from 9 to 5.30. Their prices cannot be matched. Winter specials include sofas, suites, tables, lockers, to name but a few and if you have a piece that needs to be revamped they will do it for you. On the other hand if you have some pieces that you no longer need they will be glad to accept, revamp and put them in their sales room at very reasonable rate. Be reminded that our Day Care Centre provides dinners every day from Monday to Friday . They also do Meals on Wheels. This service can be continuous or occasional. Meaning that if you are not able to cook at home for some reason, you can avail of the service until you can cope again. Give them a ring at 02970926 and ask for details of all the services they have to offer. Nursing, chiropody, laundry, entertainment etc. Bring a friend who may not be aware of this great service. To quote a saying that I found in a little book.

Ballydaly Social Club are introducing dancing classes to be held at their Hall on Tuesday nights November 5th & 12th. From 8.30 to 9.30. Steps include Waltz, QuickStep, Slosh, Military Two Step. Please avail of the great opportunity to learn this most enjoyable hobby/pastime.
Well done to Anna, Daria and Ela who hosted a coffee morning at their Cinnamon Cafe recently and raised €1,740 for the Children’s PlayGround Project.
The pub in Carrigsnima was alive to the singing of the Great Singing Scotsman Johnnie Bremner on Saturday night for the presenting of the proceeds of their Fun Day to Both Macroom and Millstreet Community Hospitals. Well done again, to the PUB which continues to be the heart and soul of Carriganima.
This week it is with regret that we say goodbye to the lovely Lily Cleary who has graced our Wallis Arms Hotel for the past 15 years. Dear Lily, we wish you many years of happy retirement. We will miss you so much from the Wallis Arms Team, but still wish you God’s Blessing in the years ahead.
Our children lived it up “Trick or Treating” on Thursday night when they called to houses after nightfall,dressed in all kinds of scary outfits and painted faces. Escorted by their caring parents they really enjoyed the eerie experience and the rewards. This week they are all back to school and getting stuck into the annual task of the Shoe Box Appeal. Every year they spare no effort to pack loads of lovely things, for children in need in far away places.
The Killarney Historic Car Rally was launched at the Glen Eagle Hotel on Sunday. Announcing a huge entry ,with contestants coming from as far away as Australia. It will be held on November 30th.
Many congratulations to Ann Lane, formerly of Ballinatona on the launch of her latest book By the Way 2. The president of Ireland Michael D Higgens and his lovely wife Sabina attended. Ann is very much at home with Presidents, having worked for previous President Mary Robinson for up to thirty years. Well done again Ann.
There’s a fun Bingo in Banteer on next Sunday November 10th starting at 3 pm. Comprising of Bingo, shop, raffle, and spots.
This weekend November 9/10 sees a return of the Mighty SelfBuild to the Green Glens.

Some members of our Active Retired Club enjoyed a trip to the Everyman Theatre in Cork on Thursday, where they enjoyed the comedy entitled the Three Hail Mary’s.
The Senior Conference of Active will be held at IRD Duhallow on November 12th.Speaker Alice Taylor. Please be reminded that this Club is open to both men and women.
The Men’s Shed and the Active Retired Club have plans to resume the Bowls Club, which was closed during the Summer months. More men are invited to join.
