NEW YEAR MESSAGE
Dear Parishioners,
As we reflect on the passing of 2020 each one of us will remember
the year with mixed emotions. Some families were given the
opportunity to spend more time together, more suffered separation from
loved ones due to travel restrictions, families had to suffer the bereavement of a loved one and had funerals with limited numbers and some had the anxiety of ill health, financial and relationship hardships.
However, we also saw the best of our communities during this time with the establishment of a local Covid Support Group and our GAA clubs offering help where it was needed.
Unfortunately, we now have to start 2021 under level 5 restrictions but with the development of vaccines, we can be optimistic that slowly life will return to what we knew before. This won’t happen overnight, so we have to continue to adhere to guidelines and keep each other safe.
On a personal note, I want to thank everyone who assisted in our Churches during the year and especially during our Christmas Masses – those who assisted with the preparation of our ceremonies, our stewards and those who helped with cleaning in each of our Churches. To our parishioners my sincere thanks for your understanding of number restrictions and with your co-operation we ensured that as many people as possible were able to attend Mass.
May God continue to bless each and everyone of you and your families.
Fr. Fitzgerald
NEW YEAR’S PRAYER:
For all that has been, we give thanks.
We look forward, for all that will be we say yes.
All time is God’s time.
We let go of the past and we welcome what is to come.
And all the time we pray in the name of Jesus,
who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Amen
PARISH OFFICE: Our Parish office will re-open on next Tuesday 5th January. However due to Level 5 restrictions it will be operating behind closed doors. Parishioners who wish to book Masses, require Mass cards or have any other query are asked to please ring the office (029 70043) and arrangements for collection or posting will be made.
PARISH ENVELOPES: Our Parish envelopes for 2021 have now been delivered to households in the Parish and my thanks to those who delivered them. If you have not received a box and wish to be included on our Parish system please contact the Parish office after next Tuesday. Thank you for your continued financial support.
THOUGHT FOR THE YEAR AHEAD
Prayer is a state of mind where an amazing exchange happens!
We hand over our worries to God, and He hands over His blessings to us.
Lovely words from Fr Fitzgerald, unable to travel due to covid restrictions, will be listening to mass this evening for our lovely Mum Nono, third anniversary, time ticks on, but memories never fade.
Happy New Year to all.
Mairead.
