The death has occurred of John O’Keeffe, Main Street, Millstreet, Cork. On February 2nd 2021, peacefully, in the loving care of Teach Altra Nursing Home, Newmarket. Beloved husband of the late Lena O’Keeffe (Kelleher). Deeply regretted by his nephews, nieces, sister-in-law Bernadette O’Keeffe and his extended family. [rip]
Due to current government guidelines, the funeral Mass will be held privately on Friday at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Late John O’Keeffe remembered as a true community champion
The passing of John O’Keeffe cast a pall over the Millstreet community, a gentleman respected who earned a reputation for unfailing courtesy and kindness. Well known in sporting and community life, he was a driving force amongst a number of organisations.
During the halcyon days of Millstreet GAA, John captained Millstreet to their only Co. Senior Football Championship title in 1948 by defeating St. Vincents at the Cork Athletic Grounds.
