“Where the Road Takes Me” at 7pm this Sunday on C103

We thank Presenter, John Greene for advance information on this Sunday evening’s programme – 7th Feb. 2021 at 7pm on C103.  (S.R.)

Linking up with historian and author John L. O’Sullivan, John Greene resumes his journey through the parish of Ballinhassig on this week’s edition of Where the road takes me.

There’s a visit to the Half-Way village, where we discover that the bricks on the railway bridge,  built in 1846, are held together with butcher’s blood.

Born in 1795, local poet JJ Callanan’s poem ‘The Recluse of Inchydoney’ is listed in a book of all time greats by Seamus Heaney.   There’s a visit to his ancestral home of Baile na Bearna.  (Bare-Nah)

And…….

We visit the ‘Priest’s Leap’ where the infamous and evil Seán Dearg Nash was, on this occasion, foiled in his attempt to hang every priest from the gates of his home at Brinny Cross.

Take a virtual journey through the parish of Ballinhassig on Where the road takes me, this Sunday evening at 7 on C103.
