Dromtariffe Parish Weekly Newsletter

My dear friends

Thank God we were in receipt of great news last week concerning a return to more normal living.  It will be a relief for so many and will bring harmony back to life.

I am delighted that we can have public Mass again to be able to pray and worship with the Christian Community.  We are still limited to 50 in church, so we are going by the rota that the Pastoral Council extended so that every station area has a chance to go to Mass and Communion once a fortnight.  Due to the limitations, we treat all weekdays as Sundays for the purpose of the followers of Christ gathering together as they have done since the time of Christ.  The relevant rotas will be in each parish newsletter.  Sanitizing and social distance and face masks are still necessary.

We don’t know yet about First Communion and Confirmation, so we have to wait until the Government decide.  But the teachers and myself are working and planning away hoping but not knowing what may happen in June.  Strange times.

I hope that all parishioners are feeling better now and that we will gradually be able to meet without danger to anyone.

As this is the month of May, a Hail Mary with the family or alone would be helpful, we have been through a lot but thank God things are easing.

 God’s blessing on all

Fr Tom

PONTIFICAL COUNCIL FOR THE PROMOTION OF THE NEW EVANGELISATION                   (Section from the Press release)

In response to the Holy Father’s heartfelt wish, the month of May will be dedicated to a “marathon” of prayer, to ask for the end of the pandemic, which has afflicted the world for more than a year now, and to ask for the resumption of social and work activities.  Pope Francis wishes to involve all the Shrines around the world in this initiative, so that they may become vehicles of the prayer of the entire Church. The initiative is being conducted in the light of the biblical expression: “Prayer by the Church was fervently being made to God” (Acts 12:5).

The official channels of the Holy See will broadcast the prayer said each day in each of these thirty Shrines at 6:00 p.m., according to time scheduled in Rome.  A short liturgical guide has been prepared that provides some useful suggestions for sharing this moment in one’s own community. The guide in Italian, English and Spanish can be downloaded from the website of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization

Our Lady health of the sick, pray for us.
