Where The Road Takes Me – Sunday 26th Sept.
This week on ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene goes in search of ‘characters’. When your search takes you to the Northside of Cork City, it would be difficult to avoid them.
Underneath the Bells of Shandon, we meet the ladies of Eason’s Hill Friendship Club. Around the corner, Dan Linehan speaks about manufacturing boiled sweets, like Clove Rocks. The same traditional methods and old machinery are in use since 1929.
At the top of Cathedral Road, we meet iconic Northside shop owner Con O’leary who also dipped his toes in politics a number of years ago.
And, Herbie Hendrick recalls almost seventy years as a band member and conductor of the Butter Exchange Brass and Reed Band, affectionately known as ‘The Buttera’.
‘Characters – a – Plenty’ – on Where the road takes me, this Sunday evening at 7 on C103.
