Last Saturday in the Waterford Crystal Cup Final, Mark Ellis apparently did his chances of retaining his place on the Cork team no harm at all.
From the Southern Star – “… while half backs Christopher Joyce, Mark Ellis and Ray Ryan comprised Cork’s strongest line. Millstreet’s Ellis always looked comfortable at centre back, and, aside from Conor Lehane, he was the most impressive of the Cork newcomers overall…”
So much so that the Examiner reports this morning that he has been put straight into centre-back for his first full competitive senior game when Cork play Limerick this Sunday in the league.
