Wednesday night of next week July 20th will see the screening of the Irish Premier of the “Forgotten Maggies.” on Irish Television. The Director and producer is none other than our own Steven O’Riordan.
Telling the story of the women who suffered in the Laundries and Institutions around the country, this documentary received outstanding reviews both at the Galway Festival in 2009, and a standing ovation at the Canter Film Centre, New York where it was hailed a compelling, brave and honest piece of work. Similar comments were added by The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, and the Irish Emigrant, America.
So don’t miss it on TG4, in English, on Wednesday July 20th at 9.30.
The Jerry O Leary Memorial Fundraising Day in aid of the Ancology Department of Cork University Hospital will start on next Saturday July 16th with a coffee morning at the home of Teresa O Leary, Rathcoole from 10.00 am to 2.00pm.Followed by a draw and Auction at the Clara Inn that night starting at 10.30. And a Vintage Run from Drishane Castle on Sunday. Please support it well.

Our Tidy Towns Committee want you to know that we are leading both Macroom and Bantry by 3 points, in the anti Litter campaign. Please keep up the good work. And bear in mind that there are prizes for the best frontage both private and commercial. The local Macra have joined the effort, an example that other clubs may like to follow .
Plans are afoot to cover our Tennis Court with Astro Turf.
Fundraising will be needed to make up the shortfall in the cost and our group are asking people to donate any scrap metal that they may have lying around ,which could be sold in aid of the cause. They have fixed on Saturday July 23rd as collection date, at the Co. Council yard Station Rd. from 9am. to 6pm. Transport can be arranged in certain cases. This award winning Garden is situated off the Mallow/Cork Road(N20)at Rathduff ,and will be signposted locally. It features Sunken Garden, Japanese garden plus a sculpture Trail of Stone heads Sculpted by Maurice himself,who is a native of Aubane. So please support it well.

Freemount defeated St. John’s in the Duhallow Junior B Football League Final while Millstreet incurred a loss to Lyre in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship.
HUMPHREY KELLEHER CUP
Millstreet will play host to the Humphrey Kelleher Memorial U15 Football Cup Final on Saturday.
The tournament remembered a great exponent in Millstreet and Cork football who helped Cork capture the 1973 All Ireland Senior Football Championship title.
U15 county teams from Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Clare, Kerry and Cork will participate. The preliminary rounds operate in Knocknagree and Dromtariffe from 10.30am with the Shield and Cup finals scheduled for Millstreet in the afternoon.
