Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to news Report 1076 from Millstreet .

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this mild Tuesday morning.

This is the second week in August and its Showtime in Millstreet . The
five-day Summer Horse show kicks off here on to-morrow  Wednesday the 10th
at the mighty Green Glens Complex. Many new features have been added to the
show-jumping arenas, and the big news is that Noel C has won his long
battle with the Show-jumping Society of Ireland and as a result, they have
suspended the rules which banned members from attending non-affiliated
shows, this  created much furore last year.

In excess of 5,000  entries are already in now ,with stabling for 800
horses on site. Lorries are arriving as we speak. and even the weather
does  spoil the fun in Millstreet because many competitions can be held
indoors if nessessary. But let us hope it won’t come to that. Admission is
free all week, the bars and restaurants will be up and running. There will
be many trade stands as well as free parking on the grounds .

People with good quality accommodation or self-catering houses please
contact the Green Glens. We wish the Show and the Duggan Family the best of
luck and God’s Blessing for the week ahead. Please give them your best
support.

We had the honour of a visit from the Minister for Tourism,Transport, and
Sport, Mr. Leo Varadkar  on Saturday Morning last, he was accompanied by
our own local TD Anne Collins. He was met by members of our town
development, and Tidy Towns committees. And was filled in on the efforts
that are being made to keep our place and industries  abreast of recent
difficulties. In spite of the doubtful weather he went along with a number
of locals and scaled the recently launched  loop walk on Clara Mountain.
They  were indeed impressed by the keen interest that he showed in  the
problems that were brought to his notice.not least among them the placing a
walking bridge over the Blackwater at Dooneen as part of the O’Sullivan
Beara Way. Following some welcome refreshments at the Wallis Arms Hotel he
departed, promising to return at another time.

And still on the subject, just to let you know that our local committee are

medium and long walks to choose from. Please keep that day free.

buttoned-up shirts and ties. Many pictures were taken by LTV cameras and
then on to the bus and off they went, totally oblivious of the cares of
the world and good luck to them.
