Fondest greetings dear listeners and  I wish you all the very best on this cloudy and breezy Tuesday morning.
And yet more rewards for our Tidy Towns committee this week Following the
grand prize of a Bronze Medal last week, they received tops in their
section in the County Council Anti Litter Challenge at a function which was
held at Co. Hall during the week. The winners of the Frontage Awards, both
private and commercial will be made known at a function which will be held
at the Wallis Arms Hotel on tomorrow Wednesday night.

In appreciation of all the fine work carried out by the few I would appeal
to all members of  our community to continue to keep Millstreet clean and
tidy.

The cross on the top of Clara, which was replaced in the 80s, needs to be
replaced. It will cost in the region of €6,000 and will be grant aided by
IRD Duhallow. There will be a shortfall and those who would to be
associated with the project are invited to give a donation. Contact Noel
Buckley, or myself and I will put you in touch.

Please take note that there is no Bus Eireann service to Macroom out of
Millstreet on Saturdays from now on.

There is a bus leaving from the Pub in Carriginma for the Ploughing Match
on Wednesday September 21st Contact 087 2600640 , or call in and book .

Clara News is in the shops this week.

A few weeks ago our Bobby Evans travelled to Vancouver to compete in the
World Senior Badminton Championships. This week you be interested to know
that Denis Corby is to represent Ireland in Turkey in the senior Tennis
Championships.

Coffee fundraisers this week in aid of Mary Mount Hospice, will be held at
Ballydaly Hall on Thursday 15th from 8pm to 10pm .

And at the GAA Hall in Millstreet  on this Friday September 16th  from
9.30am to 12.30.Please support them well.

Set Dancing resumes in Ballydaly Hall on Wednesday Sept 21st.

Community Council Meeting to-night, following the Summer break, It is at
the Youth Centre starting at 9. All members please attend.

Our Gramophone Circle meeting takes place on Friday night the 16th at the
Canon O Donovan Centre. This time it is a members choice and they are
invited to bring along CDs of their choice Starts at 8.15 and all are
welcome.

45 Drive at the same venue every Tuesday night and again all are welcome.

The Knitting Club is on every Tuesday night from 7  to 9 pm at the Adult
Learning Centre in the Main St. and on Tuesdays at the Library from 10.30
to 12.30.Everybody welcome.

Millstreet Comhaltas have a one hour Music session at our Creche on Mondays from 6,30 to 7.30 .

Music Classes have resumed in Cullen on Mondays at 6pm.

There is a FáS CE vacancy in the area for a kitchen operative and museum
attendant, contact 029 70926.

Please take note that the re-opening of the Living Scenes at the Community
School has been deferred to a date yet to be decided.    Prior notice will
be given at to when it will begin, Mean while retired people either men or
women are invited to take part in the coming season of Living Scenes. Those
interested please contact the school Chaplin John Magee.

Choir practice at the Pastoral Centre every Wednesday night at 8. New
members welcome. Those wanting to be on the choir for Christmas must come
along now.

Walking Festival here on Saturday September 24th and presents an ideal
opportunity for beginners to learn more about this popular hobby. The
program comprises of long, medium and short walks. Locals will accompany
each group to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment. For details contact 029

his wonderful show  entitled.,

A MUSICAL TRAIL THROUGH THE HISTORY OF IRELAND. The group of 22 young
artists will be at the Briary Gap in Macroom on Fridays 16th and 23rd of
September

And at Siamsa Tire in Tralee on Friday September 30th.

Shows not to be missed.

The Annual Family Heritage Festival opens at City Hall in Cork on Friday
September 30th and this year the Aubane Heritage Group will have a stand
there.

Bingo in Millstreet every Thursday night.

In Banteer to-night with € 10, 200 to be won.

Millstreet Macra held a successful pool tournament in Fleming’s Bar Cullen
on Friday last and will be hosting another such competition in the near
future.
We are starting up a pitch and putt league in Millstreet from this Saturday
at 3pm. Entrants can choose to compete in the one off competition on the
day for €5 or both that and the ongoing league which is intended to run
every fortnight (as long as the weather allows) for €6.
The Millstreet Macra men’s 7 a side football team retained their regional
title for the second year in a row yesterday in a hotly contested final in
Eire Og versus the Terelton men’s team. Congratulations to them and best
of luck in the National Finals next month. Hard luck to our ladies team who
lost out in their Semi-Final.
We are also competing in the regional round of the impromptu debating and
public speaking which is being held in the Wallis Arms in Millstreet on
Wednesday night commencing at 7.30pm. All welcome to watch.
New members are always welcome and at this time of year there are still
loads of competitions and events up coming so it is a great time to get

Millstreet overcame Mitchelstown in the North Cork Minor A Football
Championship semi final.

Millstreet incurred a defeat to Dromtariffe in the North Cork U16 Football
Championship semi final. On Sunday, Millstreet Juvenile GAA Club hosted
their Annual Perpetual Cup Competitions in the Millstreet Town Park. The
tournaments are held in memory of the late Alan OConnor, Tommy
Tommy O’Connor and Connie Kelleher.

Here are the results of this week’s parish Lotto draw which was held at the
Mal Passo Bar on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were, 7 ,10, 20, 26 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went
to Trevor O Connor, the Seller was his Mom Mary and she got €50 sellers
prize. €50 went to Sheila Barry. €20 each JLS Collins, Kilcorney,
Jacqueline O Sullivan, Coalpits, Kitty McCarthy, Aubane, Declan Cronin,
Liscahane, Kelcro Transport, Priests Cross, Pat Buckley, Dooneen.
Debra O Sullivan, Rathduane, and Denis Kelleher, 25 Murphy’s Terrace. Jackpot for next week €13,000 the draw at the Clara Inn on Sunday night.
