In an effort to raise more funds our GAA Club are going into the re-cycling business. They are asking you to donate all your clean, unwanted clothing, footwear, belts, handbags, stuffed toys etc. Also old mobile phones, they must be in a separate bag. Items can be handed in to the GAA Hall on Friday September 30th from 9am to 1pm, and on Saturday October 1st from 11am to 1pm. and 6-8pm. Please give your best support to this new and enterprising idea.
The Tidy Towns announced the winners of the Best Frontage Awards at a function which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Wednesday night. Many congratulations to our Credit Union on winning the Commercial section and to Margaret Smith, Murphys Tce on winning the private section.
Others who were highly commended were Mike and Joan Sheehan, Minor Row. Patrick Hickey 1Murphys Terrace, Paddy and Helen Sheehan also Murphys Terrace and Mary Murray, Woodland Drive.
The organisers would like to point out that judging begins in June and those who did not have their display started by then were not considered from then on. A point worth noting for future times.
45 Drive resumes at Ballydaly Hall on Sunday night next Sept. 25th at 9 and all are welcome. Set dancing there on Wednesday nights.
This is an exciting week for our Tourism Group with their second ever Walking Festival coming up this Saturday Sept 24th. There are walks to suit all tastes from long, medium and short. This time the long one will be retracing the steps on the historic O’Sullivan Beara. Checking-in takes place at the Wallis Arms, which will be open for meals and snacks from
early morning. First walk takes off at 9am. As well as being great for the more experienced, this Festival is an ideal opportunity for beginners to get familiar with Walking. Locals will be at hand to see to their every need and ensure that they get full enjoyment from their visit to Millstreet’s Walking Festival. Our Knitting Club is on at our local Library on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 to 12.30 and on Tuesday nights at the adult Learning Centre from 7to 9. All sorts of Crafts are engaged in, and all are welcome.

Elaine Hooper is still taking names for the new Singing Club.
As I mentioned last week that the cross on top of Clara Mountain needs to be replaced. It will cost in the region of €6,000 .The project will be part funded by IRD Duhallow, but wont cover the full cost, if anybody who would like to be associated with it please hand in your donation to any member of the Community Council.
“Frankly Cooking” which proved so popular at the Community School in the past is making a return visit . Enrolments take place at the Community School on Thursday October 6th, from 8pm. For full details contact the school at 029 70087.

Best wishes to Liam and Kathleen Flynn whose beloved dog SOL was found safe and well in Cork City, having been missing from his home at Drishane, since the September Fair Day September 4th. The tale of the dog was told to
