Our one-day Walking Festival which was held here on Saturday was an outstanding success. Blessed with fine weather, large crowds turned up to take part in the various walks. Over 50 people completed the long trek to Ballyvourney. With even more embarking on the shorter ones. Full marks to our Walks Committee who were on hand throughout. The new loop walk on Clara Mountain has proved very popular, and is attracting more and more people every day. All of our walks are signposted and can be enjoyed by anybody any time. Details can be seen on the signpost at the Car park in the West End of the Town.
As I said last week our GAA Club are embarking on the collection of good clean clothing, footwear, handbags, belts etc to raise more funds. Collection will take place at the GAA Hall this Friday, September 30th from 9am to 1pm and on Sat Oct 1st from 1pm. Please give them your full support.

Living Scenes resumes at the Community School this Thursday September29th. At 1.30. This is an ideal opportunity for retired people or unemployed adults to enjoy a few hours every Thursday afternoon with our Transition year Students. It is not the least bit demanding, just lovely relaxed companionship which helps to break down the barriers that exist between the young and the not-so-young. I had a call from Frank to say that his popular Cookery course will start at the Community school on October 13th. But it is very important that people will register at the School on October 6th, because the course will not go ahead if there are not sufficient takers.
The popular Ann O Flynn is about to retire from teaching and there is a retirement do in her honour on this Thursday night September 29th. Starting with Mass at Dernagree Church at 7.30 followed by refreshments at the school. Everybody welcome with a special invite to all of her past pupils.
Our LTV2 crew went to the National Ploughing match and they will bring their findings to those who could not go when programs resume.
