Larry O’Loughlin is a storyteller, author and playwright. He has written thirteen books for children and teenagers. Two of his titles for teenagers, ‘Is Anybody Listening?’ and ‘Breaking The Silence’, were awarded the prestigious International White Raven citation, and he was shortlisted for the Bisto Book Of The Year Award for ‘The Goban Saor’ and ‘Is Anybody Listening?’ His collection of children’s poetry ‘Worms Can’t Fly’, co-authored with his daughter Aislinn O’Loughlin is one of the top selling collections published for children in the last two decades, and his poetry for children has been anthologised both in Ireland and Britain.
His plays include the one man play ‘100 More Like These’, which has toured extensively, including numerous appearances at Electric Picnic and other festivals, and the musical ‘Stone Mountain Band Live – or Dead?’ which returns to the Dublin stage mid-2012. He recently adapted his first children’s novel ‘The Yuckee Prince’ as a class-room based drama.
Larry O’Loughlin will be at Millstreet Library from 12.30pm to 1.30pm next Tuesday 11th October, as part of Cork County Council’s Children’s Book Festival 2o11.
