U10 HURLING TRAINERS URGENTLY NEEDED:
We currently have no trainers for the u10 hurling team. We encourage parents of players involved with this team to get involved no matter how little commitment you can dedicate to the team. A rota of helpers/trainers could be drawn up to ensure we have an u10 hurling team this year. All help is greatly appreciated!
CONGRATULATIONS:
Millstreet Juvenile GAA Club congratulates all those who represented our club and our local schools in the recent ‘Scór na bPáistí’ Duhallow Finals which were on held on February 26th in Kanturk. Unfortunately, while some Millstreet groups did receive medals, none of the Millstreet participants succeeded in progressing onto the County section of this competition. However, they will participate in the ‘Scoraíocht’ competition in Dromtariffe on March 9th and we wish them all the best of luck.
We also congratulate the members of Millstreet Macra na Feirme and all those who represented Millstreet GAA in the recent Scór Sinsear County Final on February 25th in Eire Og. We wish the Millstreet Novelty Act and the Millstreet Quiz team the very best of luck in the Munster Semi- Final in Tallow Co. Waterford on March 10th.
Congratulations to Kevin Crowley (Minor Team) who played for Cork against Kildare in the Senior All-Ireland Inter-County Football Vocational Schools Final on Saturday February 25th at 2:00pm in Templetuohy, County Tipperary. Kevin also captained the Kanturk Senior Vocational School to win the Munster Final and we wish the team every success in the All-Ireland.
Congratulations to Ryan Tarrant (u16 team) and Paul Sheehan (Minor Team) who played with Boherbue Comprehensive School in the Munster Football Vocational Schools Junior Final. We wish them every success in the All-Ireland semi- final.
Congratulations to Seán Óg O’Connor (u16 Team) who boxed in the ‘Boy 4′ (Under 15) All Ireland Finals at the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday March 2nd.
SCOR:
Millstreet GAA hosted the Duhallow Scor na bPaisti Semi-Finals on February 12th, Thanks to all club committee members who helped in any way throughout the day.
We will also host the County Scor na bPaisti Semi Finals on March 11th at 2pm. Again, any help will be greatly appreciated.
MILLSTREET JUVENILE GAA TABLE QUIZ:
We will host a table quiz for juveniles aged from 9 to 16 on March 16th in the GAA Hall from 7pm to 9.30pm 8:30pm to 10:30pm. Table of four will cost €16 and there will be adult supervision in the hall throughout the night. Great prizes and lots of fun guaranteed! We would ask you to tell all your friends about this quiz and we hope there will be a great turn-out on the night.
IRSH INDEPENDENT/ SUNDAY INDEPENDENT ‘GO PLAY TODAY’ TOKENS:
Millstreet Juvenile GAA is participating in the Irish Independent ‘Go Play Today‘ Free Sports Equipment Campaign. Between now and the 7th April there will be a daily token printed on page 2 of the Irish Independent/ Sunday Independent. Simply cut out these tokens and give them to any member of our committee. If we collect 250 tokens we will get €500 worth of free sports equipment. There are only 500 of these sports packs available so the sooner we collect 250 tokens the better! Please get all your friends and relatives to start collecting today!
IRISH COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS:
Scholarships to Coláiste na Mumhan (Béal Átha ‘n Ghaorthaidh) are available to all active members of our club between the ages of 10 and 19. The scholarship reduces the price of the three-week course by €230. For more details contact Ciara 087 9533213
DIVISIONAL TEAMS:
Duhallow GAA have responsibility for U14, U15, U16 and Minor Underage Divisional Teams. This places a financial burden on the Board.
It can be fair to say, that Underage Duhallow Development Squads have been adequately provided for by the Board – provision of Shorts/Socks Free of Charge, Meals after tournaments, Medical Expenses etc. The Board has not asked for a contribution for any of these.
The Board will run a RACE NITE on Friday, March 16 @ Kanturk Golf Club. All money raised will go towards our Divisional teams. We would expect all Clubs to support the venture – and would certainly encourage parents who have a son on one of our Divisional Squads to purchase a Horse (€10 each). A sub-committee has been formed- Denny Lane, Millstreet is our representative.
Thanks to all those from Millstreet who purchased tickets to support this event. Still some tickets available!

A number of players still need to pay membership fees for 2012. Please ask you trainer/ club secretary for registration form immediately. Closing date for membership is March 31st 2012.
