Well done to over 30 of Transition Year Students, and Chaplin John Magee, who camped out all of last night on church Grounds to raise money for Trocaire.
The organisers of Daffodil Day collections in the town on Friday last want to say a million thanks to all those who contributed or helped in any way to make it the phenomenal success that it was. The collection outside the shops in the town brought in €3,000, the coffee morning at the GAA
Hall amounted to €800.00, and that fund is still open.
As well as that the organisers of the weekly bingo passed a bucket around
on Thursday night and collected €500, this they matched from their own
funds to bring it up to €1,000. In all €4,800 was raised here on
Daffodil Day. A massive amount of money for such a good cause in these
recessional times. So well done to those who did the ground work. May God
reward their efforts.
The AGM of our Community Council takes place at the Wallis Arms Hotel
to-night starting at 9.
A public meeting about the Household Charge will be held at our GAA Hall
to-night starting at 8.
Traditional Music at the Pub in Carriganima to-night, everybody welcome.
Aubane Social Club will hold their annual Table Quiz on Good Friday April
6th starting at 8.30. Please support it well.
Our annual Vintage Day takes place on Easter Sunday April 8th. centred at
the K&l Deliveries in Mount Leader, Industrial Estate. Proceeds go to
various charities every year. Meeting of stewards to-night at the Parish
Centre.
A note to say that our Active Retired Group to say that they are going to
Granvilles in Macroom on Friday April 20th for dinner and going on the
Briery Gap to see Calamity Jane afterwards. Then on Wednesday April 25th
They are going to the Aosta Conference [1] in Charleville. All those who would
like to go please contact The Canon O’Donovan Centre 029-70926, before
April 3rd.
People of all ages are out enjoying the joys of our loop walks etc. since
the fine weather set in. And on Sunday last over 100 people from the
Bishopstown orienteering Club held a Treasure hunt on Clara Mountain.
Mallow Walking Club was also here.
Let me remind you that our next Walking Festival will be held here on
April 14th and 15th. A great program is being prepared with walks to suit
all ages. And it’s the perfect opportunity for beginners to get acquainted
with the joys of Walking, because all walks are guided and help and advice
is at hand at all at times.
A gold wedding ring was found in the Square several weeks ago. It is

Feile Cheoil Sraid aâ?T Mhuillinn takes place the Community School on
Sunday April 22nd. With all the usual competitions on the list. Teas and
refreshments will be available at the venue.
James Healy, son of Tony (Curracahill), is planning to take part in, is a 1000km mystery
motorbike tour in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. The drive starts in
Dublin and finishes back in Dublin again and they won’t know the route
until the day.
The Month of April is clean up month and our tidy town committee are
going to have a massive sweep on 10th and 12th. April meeting in the
Square at 7.30 They would appreciate all the help that they can get
from every man woman and young person in the area . For people either
they come out and join them or for people to do so outside their own
premises be it in town or country, please take note that our approach
roads must also be cleaned also , and kept litter free. This is a
community effort, please give it your full co-operation. April 10th & 12th.
Our beautiful Country Park is revving up for a real outdoor bash on Easter
Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Opens this weekend. A full program of
events for Easter is planned with items to suit all ages. Look up their
Website for details of the Easter Camp, which goes on from Monday to
Thursday of that week. Or give Lorna a ring at 029 70810.
The Holy Season of Lent is moving on. Don’t forget to bring your piece of
Palm to Mass on next Sunday, blessing of palm takes place at all masses
at the weekend.
Meanwhile the Stations of the Cross will be said on Friday evening at 7
followed by Mass at 7.30.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in our church every Wednesday from
10.30 am to 10.30 pm.

Scor finals on a hosting in Templemore, Co. Tipperary on Saturday night.

Millstreet overcame Croke Rovers in the Duhallow U21 Football Championship.
On Saturday, Millstreet will host Banteer in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling
League throw in at 5.30.
Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto draw which was held at
Tarrants Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 2,11,21, 28 and the
Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Mary Meade Cullen. The seller was
Herlihy’s Centra and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Heather
Cahil c/o Ita, €20 each to Peter Horgan, Kilmeedy, Jack, Eoin & Ainne
Tarrant, of Tarrants Bar, Eileen Tucker, Ballydaly, Denis O Brien,

Aosta is the name given to a gathering of groups elderly people
every year. Sometimes it’s held in Mallow and in other places. Groups Come
from many parts of the County to attend. The name Aosta, (old or aged)
almost speaks for itself. I can remember being at one with Dan (RIP) some
years ago in Mallow. It gives elderly people an opportunity to meet their
counterparts from other places ,and perhaps exchange ideas and so on. There
is always a meal followed by music and dancing and so on. The staff at the
Canon O Donovan Centre would be able to give full details to anyone who
would like to learn more about Aosta or perhaps join any one of the many
activities that are set up for retired people to-day. (from Eily)
