Tuesday, 8th May 2012
(The following Report is shared with c103 Presenter, Patricia Messenger, on Tuesdays and is broadcast twice on the Radio Station – in the morning and after midnight. Eily Buckley is of course the Millstreet Reporter. I am deputising for Eily this week.)

The Irish Artist Blacksmiths Association, the Owner and Staff of Millstreet Country Park and all the many wonderfully enthusiastic coordinators of the recent four-day Traditional Crafts and Blacksmithing Fair held at Millstreet Country Park – all must take a huge bow for what was a truly magnificent success. LTV2 has comprehensively recorded hours of fascinating footage from magical moments like Ray Ryan’s official opening to interviews with a range of different visitors including Seán and Trish Gallagher as well as MEP Seán Kelly all of whom commented so very favourably on the potential of a Festival like this which gave such a gateway insight into blacksmithing and forge-work in the Ireland of today. And Patricia because of the fact that my late Grandfather Jack, Granduncle William and Uncle Tom Radley were in past years all renowned Blacksmiths in Millstreet I really felt very much at home at this spectacular event at MCP. The traditional cottage, the Food Fair, the many very interesting exhibitions and splendidly presented lectures were all hugely popular. Blessed with excellent weather, the largest amount of traffic ever seen in this 500 acre exquisite setting – the general feeling is that this remarkably popular event could well become an annual experience incorporating even further developments.
Exactly one week from today, 15th May 2012 marks, believe it or not, the 19th anniversary of Eurovision in Millstreet.
