Congrats also to everybody at Dernagree National School who are receiving the Prestigious Green Flag to-day in recognition of their green approach to litter and waste management. The Band of the Southern Command is doing the honours and all are welcome. Starts at 11.30 you may just make it.
The people of Cullen revelled in the joy of the official opening of their lovely new National school on Saturday, And we wish them every success in the years ahead.
IRD Duhallow will hold a Public meeting at Cullen Community Centre tomorrow Wednesday night, starting at 8pm.
Cloghoula National School will hold an open night on this Thursday night from 7.30 to 9.30. All are welcome.
Our Vibrant Development Group are working behind the scenes on an ongoing basis to make life better for everyone. And we are glad to say that they are about to open an Enterprise Centre . It’s at the premises of the former Super Valu Store in the Town Square. When the paper work is complete, it will be a place where people can go for help and companionship in their efforts to build up and develop a career for themselves. We will keep you informed.
Herlihy’s Centra Store in the West End are holding a Coffee Morning in Aid of Millstreet Hospital on Friday next June 15th from 9.30 to 11.30. Please support it well.
The Church Gate collection this weekend June 16/17th is in aid of Courtmacherry Lifeboats. Again, please give all you can.
A very pleasant concert was held at the GAA Hall on Friday night last when literally hundreds of little girls of National school age gave a beautiful display of Irish Dancing. It was totally informal and their teacher Mairead Kennedy of the Kennedy School of dancing was at hand to give them full encouragement.
An important meeting of the Community Council will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel to-night starting at 9. All members please attend.
Our local Councillor Noel Buckley, attended a Cork Co. council Meeting at County Hall on Monday, and again brought up the question of our Museum and Pipe band rooms at the Carnegie Hall which have been closed , for more than three years. The good news is that he was assured that they will be made available in the near future.But the reason for the long delay still remains a mystery.

The Eucharistic Congress continues in Dublin all this week. A number of Tickets were made available to the Parish of Millstreet for Sunday next which be the closing day. Masses in our churches this week contain some of the prayers being said at the congress.
Eucharistic Adoration in our church every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm. A large number of people have signed up to go there at a given time every week, but everybody is welcome to drop in at any time.
Eucharistic Adoration in Cullen Church every Thursday from 10am to 10pm and in Ballydaly every Friday from 5 until 9pm.
Our Corpus Christi Parade will be held on this coming Sunday June 17th.after 11.30 Mass.
Gramaphone Circle meeting which was due to be held this Friday night has been cancelled, as a mark of respect for the recently deseased Donal Cowman.
