Following on from the interview with Helen Flynn last week, this week the Cork Independent interview another Millstreet girl who swapped the glamour of Milstreet for the heady heights of Los Angeles in the United States. Caroline O’Sullivan hit the shores yonder in search of a career in the music industry, something lacking in opportunity in Ireland. Nearly a decade has passed since she moved to the States but memories of getting splashed by Bus Éireann still haunt this music producer.

How long has it been since you emigrated from Ireland? Almost nine years.
Why did you decide to leave Cork? I wanted to pursue a career in the music business and there wasn’t much opportunity for that in Ireland at the time. LA is definitely one of the best places you can be for that. After getting a taste of it for a summer I pretty much decided I was moving and there was no changing my mind.
What made you emigrate to the place you live in at the moment? I decided to go to school for music engineering and LA has some amazing schools. It was a bit tedious for a while – working, interning and going to school all at once. I forgot what a good nights sleep felt like, but it was worth it. Oh and the weather didn’t hurt either!
