A recently completed research project for me traced my family back to Denis and Ellen Buckley from Knocknakilla, Millstreet, Cork. Going back to the mid 1800’s. Their children born around 1850 are; James, Daniel, Patrick, Manor, Michael, Denis, Edmund and John. The only knew that I know who went to America was Richard my great grandfather who settled in Boston. I am wondering if there are currently any Buckley’s currently residing in Knocknakilla.
I will be in Kenmare the middle of next week and plan on coming to Millstreet probably on Wednesday and would very much like to make contact with any of the family currently residing in the area.

I am tracing Daniel BUCKLEY of Kiskeam who married Catherine SWEENEY of Ardnageeha Cullen on 18 Jul 1936, Millstreet. Daniel’s father is Denis BUCKLEY, witnessed by Timothy Buckley and Margaret Moynihan. Is this possibly connected with your research? Descendants are in NYC and NJ.

Cathy, Sorry for not replying sooner but I don’t visit this site often. Unfortunately your Buckley given names run throat my family but not connected to Catherine Sweeney or that generation. My Buckley”s that emigrated settled in the Boston area.
I do have a Bernard Moynihan in my tree and there was a monument erected to him in Rathcoole as part of the rising centennial as he was shot in Rathcoole by the black and tans.

Yes I knew Dan Buckley, postman and wife Kitty Sweeney lived at Doonasleen, Kiskeam for some years they had 4 or 5 daughters and one son timmy. also have photos i know Timmy and Trish in new jersey and Kitty Marie are dead i believe they might be two girls still alive and Dan died just a few years. These Buckley were in Kiskeam for a few generations at least the Sweeney were from Derragh Cullen. hope it helps
Dan Buckley lived in a house on the lawn at the back of our house.we lived on the lane.Lovely couple.
