About our Project
The main driving force behind our project was our love for horses. We have been horse riding for two and a half years now and we own two horses called Smartie and Maggie. Having competed in our first show-jumping competition last summer, we made some interesting observations. All of the horses and ponies varied in breed, age, height, weight, build, experience and jumping capabilities.
We wanted to investigate this futhner. Considering that many of the characteristics mentioned above were physical, we decided to investigate the role of physics in show-jumping. Therefore, the main aims of our project were:
- To investigate a wide range of physical characteristics which are involved in the horse’s jump
- To investigate which of these hinder the horses jump and how
- to investigate the theory that: “The taller horse will jump higher”
- to Broaden our view and also our knowledge in relation to horses and jumping and to have the ability to share this with other riders.
- To preserve the interests of the horse at all times, and to use our newly gained knowledge to benefit the horse and rider
