Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this the first day of October.
The excitement is building up here for the Cork 20 International Rally at the end of the week. There’s a rush on in the work on the Square to have the place cleared for the Big Event. Officials are busy putting up signs and notices on all the roads that will be involved, and there’s a sort of calm before the storm atmostphere in the air.
The Rally will be held on this Saturday and Sunday October 5/6th. On Friday at 8pm it will officially commence with up to twenty cars going over the start ramp in the square.
The Cork 20 International Rally Family Festival is on Oct 4,5,6th.That’s next Friday Saturday and Sunday.
Throughout the weekend there will be a family orientated rally festival of events running in the
Green Glens Indoor Arena which will include karting, bungee trampolene, rally simulator, head to head autotesting, tractor building against the clock, plus rally merchandise stands.
Out of doors, the service area for all the rally cars will take place over Saturday and Sunday.
On the Saturday evening at 5.30 p.m the top 10 drivers will compete in a indoor karting grand prix. A spectacle not to be missed.
Rally Programs are €10, and are on sale at Colemans. Entry is free with your Rally Program and all children go free.
Details of the stages etc, are on our website and newspapers. People would do well to check them and see what roads are closed etc.
There is a great demand for accommodation, not only from all over Ireland, but also many foreign parts.
There’s something for all the Family at the Festival so come out and have a great time
Our Pipe Band will be busy at the weekend both at the opening and the closing ceremonies.
The stage is set and it only remains for me to wish the Cork 20 International Rally 2013 and all the organisers every success.
Amid all the excitement don’t forget to come out and vote on Friday.
We will have the premier of “No limbs no Limits”. At the opera House on Sunday at two pm. The documentery about our own Joanne O’Riordan who has already captured the love and attention of the whole world. Her story which was compiled by her brother Stephen will be told award-winning actress Marie Mullen. Tickets can be pre-booked by ringing the Opera House at 021 – 427 00 22.
Bertie Buckley’s weekly Art Class resumes at the GAA Hall tonight and all are welcome.
A very important meeting was held at the E-Centre on Thursday evening last. Organised by Aine Collins TD, it was attended by representatives of Failte Eireann as well as members of our Community Council and Tourism committee. Follow-up meetings will be held . And other interested bodies would be welcome. Prior notice will be given.
And note from the E-Centre, “ITSP” is a Computer Company based in Kilcorney that specialises in computer repair, website design, software development and IT services.
Please take note that they are now in the E-Centre in Millstreet, three days a week.

Work will begin on putting down the Astro Turf at our Town Park to-day, and all going the pitch should be fit to play on at the end of next week.
A meeting of all those with an interest in our Astro Turf Development will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel to night organised by the Community Council Starting at nine. And all are welcome.
Out at the Pub in Carriginma on this Saturday night October 5th. A special event will be held at which the proceeds of their recent sponsored walk will be presented to both Macroom and Millstreet Hospitals. And they will get €1,000 each. Well done to all concerned.
Our Weekly lotto Draw was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night. The Jackpot was not won. And the next draw will be held at Tarrants Bar next Sunday night with a Jackpot of €4,400.

Items from the Community school: Trad for Trocaire event – Thurs. 3rd Oct – School library, 8pm. An evening of traditonal music, song and dance. Admission free, collection for Trocaire during the event.
On Saturday October 12th our Community school will celebrate it’s 40th anniversary at the Green Glens . It’s promises to be a wonderful event of reminising and looking back over all those highly successful years. Tickets are on sale at the School 02970087 and all are welcome. Please get yours as early as possible so that the organisers can calculate numbers.
The Blood Bank will attend at our GAA Hall on to-morrow Wednesday from 4,30 to 8. Please give it your usual great Support.
In our Parish leaflet this week there is a sincere word of thanks to all those who took part in the recent Gathering meeting which was held at the Parish Centre. A follow up meeting will be held on Wednesday October 16th.
=In GAA The Alan O Connor & Connie Kelleher Annual Tournament will be played this Saturday October 5th at 11am.
Cullen and Millstreet drew in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship semi final last evening and the replay goes ahead in Knocknagree tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 8pm with the winners progressing to the decider against Lyre in Ballydesmond on Sunday at 2pm.
