Duhallow Junior A Football Championship Round 1
Cullen 0-15 Millstreet 2-10
7pm at Rathcoole this evening April 21st
Report: Cullen started the first half the better team but failed to take their chances, while Millstreet threw over some good scores as the teams played a tight game and matched each other for scores. Tadgh Collins tucked away a goal after he caught a deflected goal effort from Michael Murphy to put Millstreet ahead, but Cullen followed up with points to level the game, before Michael Murphy squeezed over a point just before the half time as Millstreet went in 1-5 to 0-7 ahead.
Millstreet started the second half very well and went three points ahead, before Cullen started to come back into the game putting lots of pressure on the Millstreet defence, who then had defender Patrick Randles sent off for a yellow and a black card in quick succession. Cullen were again level, but then had their most influential midfielder black carded, so Millstreet changed their game to run through the middle and it paid dividends with another goal from Tadgh Collins with seven minutes remaining, and a few more missed chances, before Cullen came back again to level it up with pointed frees. Mike Vaughan kicked over a free, before Cullen kicked a few bad wides in injury time and Millstreet held out for a nervous win.
Apologies for the rubbish report. no pencil to write things as they happened :/
