THE MONTH OF MAY

In May it is traditional to celebrate Our Lady, a custom which stretches back to medieval times. Many families make a special effort to pray the Rosary, a tradition that is especially strong in Ireland. Here in Millstreet and the surrounding area there is a very strong tradition of visiting Tubrid Well.

This month the Pope’s intention for evangelisation is that Mary, Star of Evangelisation, may guide the Church in proclaiming Christ to all nations. As Pope Francis states in many ways Mary is the first and best model of evangelisation. Mary is the woman whose heart was pierced by a sword and who understands all our pain. These words used by Pope Francis are an apt prayer:   Mother of the living Gospel, wellspring of happiness for God’s little ones, pray for us. Amen, Alleluia!

Annual Mass in Tubrid Well – Friday 30th May at 8.00p.m.
