Fr. Batty R.I.P.: It was with great sadness that the parish especially Carriganima, learned of the
sudden death of Fr. Batty on Friday, July 3. When Fr. Batty retired from teaching in Dripsey, he took a few years out before returning to college in Thurles to study for the priesthood. When ordained, he was appointed to Carriganima and has served the people there for the past 14 years with great care and attention. His sermons were always interesting, with a good punch line. He loved meeting people at house stations, and was a great conversationalist at the breakfast table. He will be sadly missed by all. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. – from the Lee Valley Outlook
