Evening of Music and Dance to benefit Lisheens House Drop in Centre

Lisheens House Drop in centre in Kealkill is a new non- profit charitable organisation opening in October 2014 committed to providing a compassionate, professional, free or affordable counselling service in West Cork, primarily to help prevent suicide and self harm. Established by a small team of dedicated individuals the centre will offer free/subsidised counselling and other therapies where appropriate, in a welcoming, safe, and non-judgemental environment by trained professionals.

Stress and anxiety can impact on a person’s life at any time, and while work/school situations and personal relationships can all be sources of happiness and joy, they may also be potential sources of stress.

The Drop in Centre which will be an invaluable resource for people of all ages when it opens it’s doors later this year, will benefit from a music and dancing fundraiser which is being co-ordinated by Rosscarbery’s Ted Hayes and will take place at the West Cork Hotel, Skibereen on Saturday, August 9th.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to see Ireland’s Sweetheart of Country Music perform live on one of her rare trips to the south. Eileen King has been one of Ireland’s leading musical lights ever since she took Philomena Begley’s place as lead vocalist with the Country Flavour. She later went on to front her own Band, and enjoyed much chart success with her Album ‘From Nashville with love’ which she recorded at Porter Wagoner’s Fireside Studios. With her Band, she has entertained audiences all over Ireland and throughout the UK on numerous occasions, and has appeared regularly on BBC and UTV.

Also appearing will be talented Glanmire musician Finbarr Dennehy who will be accompanied by his daughter Chloe. Jim McKluskey and his Band will also take to the stage as will the hugely popular Gary Gamble. C103 Presenter John Greene is your host for the evening, and dancing will take place from 9pm until late.

Tickets at the door: €15.
