Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to Regional Report 1230. Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this fresh and breezy Tuesday morning. And a fond Céad míle Fáilte ( hundred thousand welcomes) to all the people who are flooding into our town this week from all over the world for our International Summer Horse Show, which begins today and ends on Sunday evening. We sincerely hope they enjoy their stay.

On the national scale our little country is awash with tourists both from at home and abroad, this year, with hotels and guest houses giving some real value for money, and the exceptionally good weather, playing no small part either. Buíochas le Dia.

Hill and mountain climbing is very popular also trips to the seaside. The sign boards around our town give the visitor an account of all we have to offer, while Sean Radley and his Crew at the newly refurbished Museum /Tourist office leave no stone unturned to make sure that all the local info is handed out.

But as I said it’s Summer Show Week, here and the huge horse trucks are rolling into the Green Glens Arena at a great rate. The Venue still in full bloom following the recent European Pony Cross Country Championships. For those who have no interest in horses, the Green Glens is worth a visit for its own beauty alone. Admission is free all the way, and casual visitors are welcome any time. Food is available all day every day in the many food outlets on site, and plenty of seating both inside and out.

Our town is a lovely sight, thanks to the efforts of all the people who came out to paint and decorate every building from end to end, to plant flowers and keep them watered during dry spells, and put up colourful bunting. And our many food outlets and accommodation, and other services in the Town are geared up to receive the multitudes.

All in all it is a wonderful example of everybody pulling together for the common good.

Again we wish the Duggan Family the best of good luck and God’s blessing as they take on yet another International Summer Horse Show.
